Looks like someone posted the images of the Nikon D3x a little early.
Kudos to Nikon Rumors who picked up the images before they were removed, which apparently came shortly after NR’s post. Now you get this:
I suppose December 1 may be D-Day for Nikon after all. Now, we just the to find out what the specs are… Anyone?
Stay tuned to Photography Bay’s Nikon D3x coverage for the latest when the new camera drops.

Gee, it looks like a D3…right down to the buttons. I suppose that Nikon will feel compelled to “keep up” with the likes of Canon and Sony in the megapixel rat race.
It would be nice to see something around 18mp that could retain the D3’s high level of performance while offering users a competitive product to the other high-mp products…
It also seems that some of these high-mp products are starting to run into a technology barrier…interesting to read the dpreview.com reviews of the Canon G10 and the 50D…simply piling on mp’s ain’t necessarily the answer.

The FX logo at least tells us it’s a full-frame.
Not that we were expecting anything less.. ;)

I’m with you wholeheartedly Roderick, I really hoping for around the 18mp range as well.
And if you check on http://www.NikonRumors.com it is believed to be, well pretty much proven to be, a retouched D3 photo; it did however come up on the NikonUSA site… so it should be the real deal. Just Nikon trying to save a buck probably.
Thankfully Sony told everyone that there not letting people at there 24mp chip, so at least we don’t have to worry about that, not that I really was, as Nikon has designed the last couple of chips themselves.
It is exciting though!! :D
