Technicolor’s CineStyle for Canon HDSLRs is now available for download. Technicolor is also providing look-up tables for the recommended S-curve grade to get the most out of the Canon HDSLR footage.
In order to get the CineStyle installed on your camera, you’ll need to use the Canon EOS Utility. It takes all of 5 minutes to download and add the CineStyle. Then set your camera’s Picture Style to the user profile that you assigned the CineStyle to and you’re all set.
The difference is immediately apparent (at least it was for me). I had been using the Neutral Picture Style with contrast turned way down to try and get a little more latitude out of the video. The Technicolor CineStyle absolutely blows this setup away.
After I downloaded the CineStyle, I captured a couple of quick clips on my 5D Mark II with the old Neutral Picture Style that I’ve been accustomed to and the new CineStyle. I didn’t use the look-up tables, but I applied a quick S-curve grade and dropped the greens from the highlights a bit in After Effects. You can see the results for yourself in the video below.
You can download the CineStyle profile and LUTs here from Technicolor’s website.

Is there a problem getting this to work? I went to the site, downloaded everything, set up my T2i camera as described but when I get to the “click Register User Defined style…” It is grayed out and cannot be selected. My friend Michelle is having the same problem.
Thanks

I loaded CineStyle to my Canon 60D and it shows up on the photo menu but not in the video mode.
