The lastest rumors of Canon’s lower-priced full frame DSLR suggests a Canon EOS 6D badge and an October unveiling date. Additional rumors emphasize that the focus is on making the full frame camera not only more affordable but also a smaller overall package.
Previous rumors suggested this camera would essentially work out to be a full frame version of the Canon 7D with a 22MP CMOS sensor and a sub-$2000 price point.
Canon 6D Rumored Specs
- 7D style AF system (19 pt) and VF LCD
- 7D metering
- Single Digic 5+
- 3.9 fps
- 3 inch LCD
- 51200 max ISO
- sub – $2000 price point at introduction
All of these rumors appear to be leading up to yet another massive throwdown between Canon’s budget full frame shooter and the Nikon D600. Expect more coverage on the Canon 6D (or whatever it ends up being named) as we creep up on Photokina 2012 and PhotoPlus 2012.

Sounds like a worthy competitor for the 5D MkIII!
(Remember the Sony A850 competing with A900 sales?)

Why 6D ??? and not 7D II ?
And why now, when 7D seems to have a little more to give according to Canon ?
For me Canon seems to need a new 1D or a 3D With more Mp for studio work and more.
It does not look like they have the knowledge to make a censor cheaply as Sony did for Nikon.
Is it so bad that Canon will give up, and also kneel in front of Sony?
How expensive will it become for Canon, to NOT come up with something for studio photography ?
And Sony ?
Why have them not used the 36Mp sensor yet ?
Are them waiting for Canon’s move ?
