There are now over 80 million Canon EF lenses out there in the world. Canon reached the 80 million mark on August 3, 2012 after passing the 60M and 70M marks in 2011.

- 2008: 40 million lenses
- 2009: 50 million lenses
- Jan. 2011: 60 million lenses

- Aug. 2012: 80 million lenses
Canon has been clipping along at about 1 million lenses per month for the past 20 months or so. Will the new Canon EOS M and its EF-M lenses push Canon to 90 million lenses even faster?
