I definitely prefer the the way Nikon covers up the inputs. Nikon’s looks more robust. I’m really doubting those specs though. This would mean a brand new af system, brand new sensor, a different screen than the 5d III or 1Dx, and I would bet money canon would not include built in GPS and Wifi when they make a killing selling that capability as an accessory.

I’m going to agree with you on doubting this spec list. Why put so much money into developing new integral parts on what will be your cheapest selling ff that is sure to take some(small) amount of sales from your high tier? I get the feeling it’s to give an impression of getting more when it’s finally released. These specs look subpar for a company that’s releasing 2nd again.

Outside of the processor this isn’t an upgrade to the 5dII. I better pick one of those up before the official disco’d label goes into effect. I certainly can’t afford the 5dIII anytime soon. I was hoping for the 7d’s autofocus, a good sync speed and max shutter, compact flash cards. This now looks like a let down. I dont care about wifi/gps. Leave that for the pro bodies. I just want to jump to full frame and be able to afford it.
Bummer canon, I hope this isn’t correct.

I’m fine with the camera; I’m not in the market for a FF anyway, but the naming is goofy.
A “6d” is bigger, and newer than a “7d”??
So the APSC follow-on to the 7d will be what? Presumably “8d”, but that will be smaller and less capable than an “6d”
Maybe it’s the 7d that’s out of place.
Canon’s product naming seems intended to confuse, rather than inform.

In canon, the lower numbers are always the highest end. The 1d is top of the line, 5D is next, then 7D, and then xxd like the 650d so the 6D would fit perfectly in this.
HB says
Follow up to 7D would most likely be 7D markII
Mark says
The body looks like the 5D but the specs are off IMO.
For me all they need to do is keep the current 5D2 and just swap out the AF and add a Digic5+. After all all the manufacturing tools and machines are in place so the cost to Canon would be minimal.

If this will be the final specs i am pretty shure i will sell my 7d and buy the nikon d600. 11AF Points is really disapointing. I was hoping at least to see 19AF Point System from the 7D.
I hope for more.
