UPDATE: Canon 7D Mark II Officially Announced!
It looks like the Canon 7D Mark II has surfaced a little early online. The above image appears to be a legit photo of the upcoming 7D Mark II and the below specifications, if legit, look very promising for the APS-C shooter.
Canon 7D Mark II Leaked Specs
- Magnesium alloy body
- Dust and water resistant
- 20.2MP CMOS sensor
- Dual pixel CMOS AF
- 65-point AF (all points cross type)
- 10 frames / sec continuous shooting
- Dual DIGIC6 processor
- Max ISO 16000
- RGB + IR photometry sensor 150,000 pixels
- Full HD 60p videos
- Built-in GPS
- Interval timer
- Bulb Timer
Is it sad that a built-in interval timer gets me more excited than anything else on the list? That will be quite the breakthrough for Canon to provide a feature that other DSLR brands have provided for years as a built-in feature…

Jared says
Interval timer is definitely cool, but I’d rather it had WiFi.
This is one area where other brands are in the lead, but not Canon DSLRs.
jason says
Have you seen the new 70D my friend? it as a build in wifi
Jared says
I’m interested in the 7D Mk2 rather than the 70D. Hopefully the 5D Mk4 will have WiFi.
Brian says
Won’t be buying this camera at release unless it’s priced VERY well – competitive to 70D well. No 4k is a deal killer at this point Canon! Took this many years to finally get 1080/60p – great… But no 2k or 2.5k or anything else at 30/24p? There’s no reason for me to buy this – it looks like it’s a 70D with few enhanced features. Sony and Panasonic have been doing so much more lately.
Jose Perdomo III says
If this is legit… it is sad… I can’t imagine myself moving to GH4… but this 4K thing is unstoppable.
tommy says
If this is true I’m going to go with Sony a6000 for apsc camera.
Tim L says
The RGB + IR Photometry line piques my curiosity as I have no idea what it refers to. AF? Exposure?
Eric Reagan says
I think that’s probably a reference to the metering system.
Greg Adams says
It’s a still camera that can do video. Why complain, Canon has a whole lineup of cinema cameras. It is meant to give a lower cost option for sports shooters and pj’s. I will get one for my 70-200.

if these specs are true , does anyone want to buy my canon stuff – I am moving off canon to nikon or other … shame canon – make us all happy or u will loose us all !!
give us some good supa specs to make us feel proud of canon stuff again !
:(
RA de Jong says
Whe it is true then,
Canon you are missing the boat!
When de D7 had an Foveon sensor! it was a lonely topper!
But with this spects, Nothing revolutionair, only an expensive better D70
shame.
But maybe you suprice us on the photokina????
Jan Karlsson says
It will be exciting, but these figures say nothing.
If the news is not a new sensor and AF, then I do not understand why it did not come earlier ….. Much earlier :)
But still nothing for me, I want a proper studio camera, like the Nikon D800
So for me this photokina is the most exciting if I switch brands or stay with Canon
