So the Canon 6D showed up as a discontinued product on the Amazon UK website; however, that’s not the case at its US counterpart or B&H Photo. It could just be a system error; however, it has been up there for quite some time now.
This comes on the heels of new rumors that the Canon 6D Mark II is going to be a higher-end camera than the original 6D. Right now, the 6D is available for $1699 after the current rebate promotion, but if the rumors are to be believed, the 6D Mark II will get both a spec/feature bump and a price bump.

This all seems a little strange. Someone a few months back posted that the 6D may be EOL’d before the end of 2014 and they did not think it was going to have a replacement, but that was before the 7D was put on life support and revived. Thinking at that time was Canon was actually going to trim down on their product line a bit, but that no longer appears to be the case. So maybe this news means they’ll actually release an update for the 6D? If I’m not mistaken, the camera is almost exactly two years old at this point.
Maybe this will be the one to focus on for video features and have the 5Dm4 focus on stills? Seems counter productive, given the history of the 5D as a “film” makers tool, but it wouldn’t shock me if Canon did something like this. Or maybe the 6D will basically be the 5DMk3 with improved still features and the 5DMk4 will be the one with a real impact/improvement for video? That would likely not rattle the still photo base too much since there’s options across the board.
Based on Canon’s lens price hikes and pricing lately, a 6DMk2 around $3500 and a 5DMk4 around $4500 doesn’t seem out of the question… let’s hope the specs live up to these types of dollars though.
Awesome my 6D will be delivered today…
What they’ll probably do is match up with D750. Nikon is hurting with the D600/D610 problems and fixes. That really hurt that camera and most people are not willing to take that risk at this point.
This really leaves the 7D mkii in a great place. Nikon has nothing in the sub $2000 range that can touch it. The D7100/70D, D750/6D mkii, D800/5D mkiii – this leaves a pretty big void in the $1400-2000 line up.
But what I want is a Canon 50mm f/1.8 IS – it’s been rumored for two years.

ahah… funny the mine too ! :D
And it’s great to read about a price bump so that i will not had spent money for nothing…. or at least i hope.
If this is true, I will be so cross with Canon. I bought the 1000D as my entry level camera, and that was quickly discontinued and replaced by the 1100D, as apparently there were problems. And now this is happening with the 6D, which is only two years old! Will we still have support, or will we be left hanging? I can no longer trust Canon, and my next camera will definitely NOT be a Canon.
Canon has done well with continuing support on older camera models. Just look at their firmware history in recent years. I think the 6D stands on its own as a very solid camera. I don’t really see this as a move to leave 6D users hanging. If there’s a relevant update that the camera needs, I think Canon would still provide it in the coming years.
I do hope so, as I actually love my 6D.
