RED EPIC & SCARLET Adds True Stills Photo Mode

July 14, 2015 By Eric Reagan

RED-Motion-and-Stills-Photo-Features

The RED EPIC and SCARLET cameras have finally received the ability to shoot dedicated still image R3D raw files. The feature is now available in firmware versions 6.0.x and later.

RED EPIC Still Photos

While it isn’t exactly on par with the bells and whistles available in professional DSLRs, it adds a feature that RED operators have been working around for years by extracting stills from the RED raw footage. As you can see in the video below, you can now capture single image still frames and still images from a multi-shot burst.

Check out the video below for a walk-through of the new photo features.

Thanks for the excellent video. This type of instrument is of interest to me for a variety of technical and potentially artistic exposures that I won’t take your time to elaborate upon.

    Appreciate.
