It’s getting close and hopefully not too late for many. I’ve rented and borrowed 4K bodies when needed to get by until I made a decision on my future upgrade paths, but really have been holding out for a 5DMk4 for a pretty long time. It’s the type of camera that best works for my needs (both photo and video) and in a compact-ish form that can be transported and traveled with. Building up when needed, or going “bare bones” with just a lens when that makes most sense.

Wonder what else will be announced. Apparently they’re also showing off the C700 at IBC 2016. Maybe firmware updates (like Sony) to unlock features in current Cinema EOS models? If there was a 4K C100 (Mark III or IV) out there, then it would make the decision a bit more difficult, but I do not expect to see that from Canon anytime soon. Maybe an update to the (semi-ancient) 1DC?

Time to get CFast cards and new batteries!

Meanwhile, at least the SD card reader will probably be faster than the 5DMk3.

not so sure about those new batteries just yet… hearing they MAY be LPE6 “compatible” still – meaning the same physical size battery with backwards compatibility

I’m a big Canon fan but 24 M pixels will be dead on arrival except for a few video enthusiasts

24.2 mp is crap for such a long wait. I will be better of with Mk.III.

24.2 mp is crap for such a long wait. I will be better of with Mk.III or shift to some other better system. it’s sad if I have to decide of shifting after being a fan of canon eos system for many many years.

Wi-Fi is nice, less weight is nice, touch screen is nice.. and It would also be nice if the histogram is in the view finder, a tilt touch screen, allow three batteries with grip to extend the battery life for video recording while adding faster FPS to still photography and flash sync speed over 1/250 s…. just a few wishes.
