Deal: Panasonic GH4 with 2TB Hard Drive for $997

May 19, 2017 By Eric Reagan

I thought this deal was dead. I saw it the other day and went back to look for it and saw the GH4 was $1197 on B&H’s site. Well, I just checked an email from B&H and found the right link for the Panasonic GH4 that INCLUDES at WD 2TB hard drive for $997, which is basically $500 off the current retail price of the GH4 – and you get a free hard drive.

I know the GH5 is out now and that it’s a big deal, but the GH4 is still a solid camera that shoots 4K video as well.

You can find the deal while it lasts (through May 20, I think) here at B&H Photo.

The Latest Canon Full Frame Mirrorless Rumor

May 18, 2017 By Eric Reagan

I’ve gone on and on about Canon’s need to enter the full frame mirrorless market. While some of its more recent mirrorless cameras are intriguing, we aren’t going to take Canon seriously until it comes out with a camera that can actually go head-to-head with the Sony A7 line. [Read more…]

How to Color Landscape Photos in Photoshop

May 18, 2017 By Eric Reagan

Check out this video tutorial from Phlearn, which shows you a couple quick methods you can use to color your landscape photos in Photoshop. You’ll learn how to isolate specific parts of the photo so your saturation adjustments don’t affect the entire image. You can select color ranges to alter or use selection tools to create masks on your adjustment layers. Some pretty cool, yet simple tools to really make your landscape images pop.

New T-Shirt: #photographer Retro Camera Premium Shirt

May 18, 2017 By Eric Reagan

Check out our new #photographer t-shirt design that features a simple rangefinder camera icon.

This is the same premium fabric that is found in the previously released When Life Gets Blurry, Adjust Your Focus T-Shirt. It is softer and thinner than the standard tee we started with. It’s also a little more breathable, which is better for the summer months ahead.

The premium t-shirts run a little small, so I suggest ordering one-size up. I’m usually somewhere between a large and an extra-large depending on how many tacos I eat. So, I order an extra-large version of all the premium tees and those fit about right for me.

You can order the #photographer Retro Camera T-Shirt on Amazon.com now. If the dark neutral colors aren’t for you, there is also a more colorful #photographer option here.

Thanks for supporting Photography Bay.

(International readers: I’m working on some options for you guys to order these too. I’ve heard the emails and I really appreciate your interest. I have not forgotten you and I value your time visiting Photography Bay. Stay tuned for news on how to order these outside the US.)

Sony Unveils Full Frame Wide-Angle Zoom Lenses

May 18, 2017 By Eric Reagan

Sony just launched a pair of new wide-angle zooms that continue to build out the full frame E-mount line:

  • Sony FE 16-35mm f/2.8 GM
  • Sony FE 12-24mm f/4 G

Priced at $2199 and $1699, respectively, these new wide zooms are pro lenses that mirror what Canon and Nikon have done in their lens lines. As Sony continues to grow its market share with its E-mount line of mirrorless cameras, expect this trend to continue. [Read more…]

Deal: GoPro HERO4 Black with LCD and Charger for $299

May 16, 2017 By Eric Reagan

B&H has a solid deal on the GoPro HERO4 Black for $299 that includes the GoPro LCD Touch BacPac and the GoPro Dual Battery Charger with a spare battery. I’ve been a bigger fan of the HERO4 because of the built-in touchscreen but the inclusion of this LCD BacPac, along with the external charger and battery, makes this a very tempting deal. Check it out while it lasts here at B&H Photo.

Watch a Guy Dive Into 1,000 Mousetraps in 4K at 1,000fps

May 12, 2017 By Eric Reagan

Ever wonder what it’s like to jump into the middle of a thousand mousetraps?

Me either.

The Slow Mo Guys put 1,000 mousetraps on a trampoline and then jumped in the middle of them. They shot with a Phantom Flex 4K at 1,000 frames per second. Skip to 1:37 for the slow motion action.

You can rent a Phantom Flex 4K for $3,500 per day or up to $10,500 per week. Buying one will run you north of $100k. You can roll a little cheaper to get to get close to the 1,000 frames per second territory with the Sony RX100 V. Not quite 4K at those frame rates but it’s pretty solid for the price.
