Photography Bay reader, Rick, sent in a question that I thought I would pitch to the community here. Essentially, Rick has a couple of Canon AE-1’s that are in need of professional repair. For those of you who cut your teeth in the digital realm, the Canon AE-1 is a film-based, manual focus SLR. They are still quite widely available in decent used condition.
Does anyone have a recommendation for where he can send these camera’s for some affordable repair work at a reputable shop?

Neutral Day has posted a review of the Canon 5D Mark II.
It’s 21.1 megapixel sensor is capable of taking breathtaking imagery, it’s AF system is very fast and entirely competent (if a bit dated), and it’s ISO performance opens up possibilities likely not seen by most photographers, especially those moving up from prosumer level cameras.

DP Interface has posted a review of the Canon PowerShot SX10 IS.
Don’t underestimate the PowerShot SX10 – it’s a great and very capable camera. If you like the SX1 a lot but don’t need its full HD 1080p movie mode and 4 FPS burst mode, then you can get the very similar Canon PowerShot SX10 for a lot less money.

Rumors of the successor to the Canon 1D Mark III persist. The latest word, picked up by Canon Rumors, consists of a number of possible new spec lists, ranging between a 16 and 18 megapixel sensor. While there’s no inherent credibility attached to these spec lists, CR says that they have it on good word that the 1D Mark IV will arrive February 2010. [Read more…]

DP Interface has posted a review of the Canon 50D.
The camera offers a lot of functionality for photo enthusiasts and professionals, yet still has a small handful of scene modes and Creative Auto mode which appeal to users who want to enter and test the waters of the digital SLR world (if they’re daring enough to start out with this camera).

Imaging Resource has posted a review of the Canon PowerShot SD780 IS.
We still think the SD780 IS is a very nice digital camera to use, and that it will serve as a decent camera for serving up good 4×6-inch prints at up to ISO 800, but that 12-megapixel designation on the front of the camera makes it seem like the camera is capable of more.

Steve’s Digicams has posted a review of the Canon PowerShot SX200 IS.
Image quality was pleasing both indoors about out. Our outdoor samples show the camera has the ability to capture excellent exposures that show good color balance, and are tac sharp.
