Canon 6D Product Advisory Issued

December 6, 2012 By Eric Reagan

Canon has issued a product advisory for the Canon 6D relating to the inability for movies shot on the 6D to playback on YouTube. This appears to be aimed at users who pull a card out of their camera and upload directly to YouTube.

The fix (for now) is to save the file via ImageBrowser EX and then upload to YouTube. If you already go through an editing and exporting process for your HDSLR videos, then you don’t need to worry about this problem.

More details in the full product advisory below. [Read more…]

New Canon EOS-M Model w/ Viewfinder Coming in 2013?

December 5, 2012 By Eric Reagan

This could be as much of an educated guess as a rumor. Nevertheless, recent rumors point to a new Canon EOS-M model that sports an electronic viewfinder to be unveiled in late 2013.

One of the most lamented non-features of the Canon EOS-M has been the absence of a viewfinder. Enthusiasts were lambasting Canon before the EOS-M ever hit store shelves over the lack of an EVF. While Canon never confirms what’s coming down the line for its camera systems, executives have emphasized that the EOS-M was its first foray into the mirrorless market and that there will me more cameras built for different users.

Additional rumors point to the styling of the camera as similar to the current EOS-M model and that it won’t be taking a retro design like some of the other mirrorless models out there (e.g., Olympus, Fuji, etc.).

Canon 7D Mark II to Be Aimed at Sports and Wildlife Shooters

December 1, 2012 By Eric Reagan

Canon 7D Mark II Rumors

Consistent with the last round of rumors and speculation, new word over at Northlight Images points to the rumored 7D Mark II‘s place among sports and wildlife photographers thanks to a spicy 10 fps frame rate.

The 10 fps rate is seen as an important feature, along with many features derived from 1DX developments, particularly AF and lower light performance. Sensor size would be advertised as 21MP, but faster and less noisy than the 7D (25MP was apparently seen as not offering enough image quality). The 6D is aimed at a proportion of the 7D market, giving more flexibility in upping the 7Dmk2 specifications (and price). The current 7D will continue for some time and surplant the 60D, when the 700D comes along with increased specifications. –Northlight Images

Previously rumored specs include the following:

  • 24.2mp APS-C Sensor
  • 10.2 fps
  • Dual DIGIC V
  • Dual Card Slot
  • New Ergonomic Design
  • New Battery
