The Fuji X100S was supposed to be officially unveiled tomorrow morning here at CES 2013. However, Fuji UK jumped the gun today and published the details on the new camera in an official press release, which has since been removed from Fuji’s site. [Read more…]
Fujifilm has a press conference scheduled for January 7, 2013 (next Monday) just prior to CES 2013. Photo Rumors is reporting that the Fuji X100s and X20 will be announced that day and will both be similar to the X100 and X10, respectively.
The Fuji X100s should contain the same leaf shutter as found in the X100, which is great news. The X100s should also offer focus peaking as an additional feature to aid in manual focusing.
I’ll have more on this from CES 2013 (hopefully live).
It looks like the excellent Fuji X100 is finally getting a proper successor. A recent article on the Fuji X-E1, written by Tony Bridge (who is sponsored by Fujifilm), mentioned that the replacement for the X100 is due out “early next year.” Given Fuji’s historically solid showing at CES, there’s a good chance that the next X-series camera with a leaf shutter will show up at CES 2013 in the first few days of January. B&H now has the Fuji XF1 retro point and shoot camera in stock. As noted in my hands-on time with the camera, the XF1 features a unique lens twist/pull function to power the camera on, as well as a rotating zoom feature for the lens.

The $200 savings on the Fuji X100 has been extended through the end of 2012. Until then you can find the 2011 Camera of the Year for $999 instead of the normal $1199 price. Check it out here at B&H Photo.
The Fuji XF1 is the latest X-Series point and shoot camera. It features a retro-style that’s as much of what defines the camera as technical features like the 12MP EXR CMOS sensor and f/1.8 lens.
The XF1 is certainly a pretty camera, and those specs put it near the top of point and shoot models around. The prints from the XF1 that I saw at PhotoPlus looked solid, which is promising for a camera as pretty as this one. [Read more…]
