March 10, 2011 By Eric Reagan

I stopped by the Mall Plaza Trébol while touring Concepcion and Talcahuano, Chile.  As I was walking through, I noticed a Nikon store.  While there were many electronics stores in the mall, this was a completely Nikon-branded store. [Read more…]

Nikon Coolpix P7000 Review

March 7, 2011 By Eric Reagan

The Nikon Coolpix P7000 is a powerhouse of a point and shoot camera.  It sports a 10.1MP image sensor and a 7.1x optical zoom.  Along with a hot shoe for external flashes and the ability to capture 720p HD video, the P7000 offers a lot for the serious photographer who wants to travel light.

Want Do You Want in the Nikon D800?

February 24, 2011 By Eric Reagan

A few weeks ago, I asked Canon users what they wanted to see in the Canon 5D Mark III (or whatever it’s called).  Better autofocus, enhanced AEB options and dual CF card slots were some of the popular requests for Canon.

The Nikon D700 is a bit of a different animal though.  It’s got great AF, but no video options.  The photo purists out there would probably be happy to keep it that way; however, I suspect that the inclusion of HD video capture on the D3s likely signals that the smaller-bodied, full frame D700 replacement will get a dose of HD video as well. Nikon D7000 Sample Video

February 22, 2011 By Eric Reagan

While working on the Nikon D7000 review, I put together this little video of some high ISO clips at a local aquarium.  I believe all of these clips were at either ISO 3200 or ISO 6400.

As you’ll learn in the coming review, the D7000 is a little more cumbersome than its Canon counterparts for video work due to the funky aperture controls; however, it still fares quite well in the final output video.  For now, check out the video below. [Read more…]

Nikon Coolpix P300

February 8, 2011 By Eric Reagan

The Nikon Coolpix P300 is a compact point and shoot camera with a 12.2MP backside illuminated CMOS sensor and a bright f/1.8 max aperture lens.  The P300’s lens offers a 4.2x zoom range for a 24-100mm equivalent and a max aperture of f/4.9 at the long end.

The P300 features a 3-inch 921k-dot resolution LCD and covers a sensitivity range of ISO 160-3200.  The Coolpix P300 will record 1080p HD video at 30fps with full autofocus, stereo sound and use of the optical zoom.

Like its superzoom sibling P500, the P300 can capture in-camera HDR images by combining multiple photos into a single photo.  The Coolpix P300 should be available in March for $329.95. Check availability on Amazon.com.
