Nikon Coolpix P80 Review at ePhotozine
ePhotozine has posted a full review of the Nikon Coolpix P80. The new P80 boasts a 10.1 megapixel image sensor, Nikon’s EXPEED processing and vibration reduction on a whopping 18x optical zoom lens. The P80’s 18x Zoom-NIKKOR lens covers focal lengths from 27-486mm (35mm format equivalent).
Nikon are really coming up trumps with processor capability. The landscape image has good definition all-round with nice detail in the grass. No fringing is evident on the white steps or on the roof of the building, which I’m really impressed with.
Nikon Coolpix L18 Review at Cameras.co.uk
Cameras.co.uk has posted a review of the Nikon Coolpix L18.
The main reason for looking to buy the Coolpix L18 is the fact it is simple and easy to use. Another attraction is the fact you can pick up a camera from a respected brand like Nikon for a relatively low price.
Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX35 Review at PC Mag
PC Mag has posted a review of the Panasonic DMC-FX35.
On the plus side, this camera has the rare ability to record HD-quality (1,280-by-720) movies at 30 or 15 frames per second. Video quality is good, too: At an aspect ratio of 16:9, there was little blurriness or shake, and playback was smooth.
SmugMug Adds Embedded Video
A few months ago, SmugMug added video capabilities to its repertoire of sharing features. SmugMug has now followed up with embedding capabilities for a variety of video sizes including HD. Don MacAskill gives the rundown on the new H.264 embedded format here.
I’m a big SmugMug advocate. I’ve been nothing but thrilled with their photo hosting and sharing services. You can read more of my thoughts on an earlier Photography Bay post – 7 Alternatives to Flickr.
While SmugMug “demands video to be awesome”, I ran into a little bit of a lag issue on my aging iMac G5. I have to say though, that the video quality looks great for a flash-based video. How’s the above video working for you (for both streaming and quality)?
If you decide to give SmugMug a try, you can use this code ( 7jCtURK05RxCQ ) in the ‘Referred by’ field on the signup form to save $5 from whatever account you sign up for. (Disclosure: I get a credit as well.)

A solid compact snapshooter, the Canon PowerShot SD890 IS nevertheless disappoints when compared with its predecessors and line-mates.
Olympus E-3 Review at Camera Labs
Camera Labs has posted a full review of the Olympus E-3 DSLR.
The viewfinder and AF are two usual scapegoats, but with the E-3, Olympus has significantly improved both. The tunnel-vision of earlier Four Thirds viewfinders has been upgraded to a large and bright experience that inspires you to use the 4:3 aspect ratio. The older basic 3-point AF system has been replaced by a new 11-point system which with the right lens and conditions can perform extremely quickly.

Canon Powershot SD770 IS Review at Steve’s Digicams

The SD770 IS also has a 3x optical zoom, which equates to a 35-105mm zoom range on a 35mm camera. The 2.5″ PureColor LCD II screen and an optical viewfinder make acquiring the image subject easier on the photographer’s eyes.
The Canon Powershot SD770 IS Digital ELPH is everything that you would expect from this line, especially if you have had any experience with them before.
Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX35 Review at DC Resource
DC Resource has posted a review of the 10.1 megapixel Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX35.
The FX35 takes good quality photos, though there are definitely some issues to point out. On the whole, photos were well-exposed, with pleasing, vivid color. Images are on the soft side, though it’s not too bad. Panasonic has made great strides in reducing the amount of noise reduction they apply to images on their newest cameras, and that shows on the DMC-FX35.
