Scott Kelby Explains His Switch from Nikon to Canon

Long-time Nikon user, Scott Kelby, switched from Nikon to Canon about 6 months ago. After tons of people have asked him about the switch, he decided to put together a little video explaining the reasons why he switched to the 1D X and the 5D Mark III. Apple Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 5.03 Now Available

Apple has issued an update to Digital Camera RAW to version 5.03, which adds RAW image support for the Canon EOS M2 in Aperture 3 and iPhoto ’11. The update also resolves an issue that prevented lens correction from working properly with Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 images and address a color cast issue on some Olympus OM-D E-M1 images.

The update is available through the Mac App Store’s “Updates” tab.

Canon G1 X Mark II Rumored for CP+ Unveiling

The Canon G1 X was a bit of an odd bird when announced a couple years back at CES 2013 with its larger sensor (still not quite APS-C sized) and slow lens at f/5.8 max aperture on the telephoto end. Still, it looks like the camera was successful enough that Canon may announce a new model at CP+ next month.

Canon 100x Superzoom Camera Patent

Canon may step up the 50x optical zoom of the PowerShot SX50 HS with a 100x optical zoom sooner or later. The current SX50 offers an equivalent field of view of 24-1200mm.

However, a recently published patent application from Canon shows that Canon has developed an optical formula that would provide a superzoom camera using the same sensor size with a reach of an equivalent field of view of 20-2000mm on a full frame camera. That works out to a 3.6-340mm actual focal length for the 1/2.3″ sensor size.  [Read more…]

The new Tamron SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di VC USD lens now has official pricing, and comes in at $1069 (a slight price hike of $120 over the 200-500mm lens it is replacing).
