Canon 44.7MP DSLR Due at End of August?

July 24, 2013 By Eric Reagan

Canon 1D C

Another source has sent me info (thanks) on Canon’s next DSLR, stating that it won’t be the 75MP+ behemoth undergoing field testing now. Instead, the source claims Canon will launch a DSLR with a 44.7MP sensor (8192 x 5462) that provides 4K cinema capability without bayer artifacts, and can do UHDTV with a slight crop. [Read more…]

July 18, 2013 By Eric Reagan

Corel AfterShot Pro

Apparently, the backlash from Adobe’s recent Creative Cloud subscription announcement has lit a fire underneath Corel and its development team.

Corel has started pushing harder into the photography market (they need to keep pushing and push harder) with advertising and brand awareness, and now we are starting to see some actual product moves happening (note to Corel: you need to keep this up and do more if you want to earn the trust for photographers to rely on you for their workflow needs).

In the past few days, Corel released an update to AfterShot Pro (version 1.2.0.7), which is an alternative to Adobe Lightroom (see my initial impressions of AfterShot Pro when it was released last year). The update provides raw file support for the following cameras: [Read more…]

Canon Rebel SL1

This cool Canon commercial from Korea shows off the impressive size of the Canon Rebel SL1 (aka Canon 100D). I was impressed with the Rebel SL1 in my initial hands-on review and remain impressed with it after spending a few weeks with it. Expect a full review soon.

Canon Rebel T5i Review

July 9, 2013 By Eric Reagan

Canon Rebel T5i

The Canon Rebel T5i (aka 700D outside the US) follows the solid Rebel T4i, which followed the solid Rebel T3i, and so on. The thing about about the Rebel series in the recent iterations is that it seems like Canon is getting rather lazy and predictable with its flagship cameras in the Rebel lineup. [Read more…]

Nikon Symphony Uses 14 DSLRs to Make Music

July 8, 2013 By Eric Reagan

In the above video, Benjamin Von Wong put together a symphony of DSLRs with the help of Nikon Professional Services to create music from shutter shutter sounds, menu beeps and other camera-centric sounds.

I spotted a couple of D4‘s, a D7100 and a D800E in there. Can you name all the cameras an other Nikon products used to make the music?

For a deeper look behind the scenes, check out the below video. [Read more…]
