Canon 6D Available in New Kit Option

Amid the recent announcements of Canon’s new point and shoot cameras in early January, I missed that Canon also made the 6D available in a kit with the new-ish EF 24-105mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM lens. The new kit runs $2199 and should be available in early February. Check it out here at B&H Photo.

This new kit option makes a lot of sense and I think most of us saw this one coming when Canon announced the lower-tier 24-105mm STM lens earlier in 2014. I’m not sure why Canon didn’t start offering it from day one. Perhaps they wanted to clear out some stock with the 24-105mm L kit lens before packaging the new lens with it.

The 6D remains available with the pricier 24-105mm f/4L lens as well for $2399. And that kit is actually on sale through January 31 for $2099 after a $300 mail-in rebate.

Canon Rebel Kits at Amazon as Good as Most Black Friday “Doorbusters”

As I have been perusing through the Black Friday ads this week, the one thing I’ve noticed is how underwhelming most of the DSLR “doorbuster” deals have been. And how Amazon’s ordinary prices are inline with these Black Friday deals.

For instance, almost every major brick & mortar retailer is selling the Canon Rebel T3 at $479 as some kind of huge deal. It was $478 on Amazon earlier this week and is $468 at the time of this post.

Amazon is offering a free basic backpack and an 8GB memory card with several Canon Rebel kits (e.g., T3, T2i, T3i), most of which are already cheaper than what’s you’ll find if you happen to make it into a store at 4AM and find them in stock. Throw in the Transcend 8GB card and basic camera backpack, and you’ve got all the more reason to stay inside on Black Friday.

Canon Rebel T3i w/ 3 Lenses & SD Card for $999 – Deal Alert

Buy.com has a solid deal on a Canon T3i kit with the 18-55mm IS, 55-250mm IS and 50mm f/1.8 lenses for $999. The deal also includes a SanDisk Ultra 16GB SDHC card, as well as some other “junk” items.

The price of the camera lenses and card is over $150 less than you can find it on Amazon ($1158 total – not including the sorry bag and cleaning kit). This is a great deal on a great camera and lens starter kit. Check it out at Buy.com.
