It looks like the names and specs for the upcoming Nikon mirrorless camera models have finally slipped out. According to Nikon Rumors, the Nikon V1 and J1 are rumored to be the initial models in the new Nikon mirrorless camera system.
As previously rumored, the cameras will feature a 2.7x crop sensor dubbed as Nikon’s CX format. The new cameras are expected to feature a 10.1MP image sensor and capture 1080p HD video.

Nikon Coolpix P7100 and AW100
The Nikon Coolpix P7100 and AW100 surfaced this afternoon on Nikon Rumors a little while before their anticipated unveiling later tonight/tomorrow.
The P7100 looks to be the replacement for the rather sluggish Coolpix P7000. However, Nikon may very well have boosted the performance of the P7100 so that its a viable option for those who want an advanced compact.

It looks like Nikon’s compact mirrorless camera has leaked its lens mount and sensor mount onto the web. Based on this image, it’s clearly not an F-mount camera – so you won’t be using existing Nikon lenses on this camera (without an adapter, that is). Something must be cooking with all of the “new Nikon” rumors slating cameras for late-Summer. The most recent rumor comes from Nikon shooter Bryan Peterson, who is know by many for his great Understanding Exposure books. [Read more…]
A tipster has sent in some info on the rumored Nikon D800 that he purports originates with a “very reliable source.” According to the tipster, Nikon will not be revising the D700 for a “S” model, as was the case with the D300 and D3.
Instead, Nikon will release a completely new model to replace the D700 – the D800.
Rumored Nikon D800 features from the tipster include the following:
1) Video mode 1080p video recording (full HD)
2) High resolution 24.5 MP.
3) High frame rate: 7 fps without battery grip (similar to D300s)
4) 51-area Nikon Multi-CAM 3500FX (same technology as D3X)
He also tells me that the D800 will launch before Christmas.
I can’t confirm the veracity of this info or the reliability of the tipster yet. I am reaching out to him for further details in hopes to substantiate these rumors. Keep in mind that these D700x/D800 rumors have been rattling around for over a year now.

Nikon Rumors picked up the above screen shot from Nikon Germany (it’s no longer on the site). It appears to show a Nikon D400 in the lineup. If its real, then specs would include the following:
