Sigma EM-140 DG Macro Flash for Sony and Pentax

September 23, 2008 By Eric Reagan

The Sigma Corporation is pleased to announce the new ELECTRONIC FLASH MACRO EM-140 DG for Sony and Pentax cameras.
ELECTRONIC FLASH MACRO EM-140 DG is designed to work with both AF 35mm film and Digital SLR cameras. The EM-140 DG Macro Flash is ideal for photographing subjects in fine detail when the shadowless mode is used and is extremely effective for scientific and medical applications. Dual flash tubes can fire simultaneously or separately. Using only one flashtube creates shadow, which can give a three-dimensional feeling to the subject. The flash features a guide number of 14 w/ISO 100. The Modeling Flash function makes it possible to check for reflections and shadows before actually taking the flash picture. A wireless flash function is also available, when the EM-140 DG is used as master and the EF-530 DG SUPER as a slave unit for creating fine shadow details. High Speed Synchro and Exposure compensation functions are also available for advanced flash photography.

Features

  • Ideal for Close-up photography, especially medical and scientific applications
  • Fully dedicated with the latest TTL auto exposure systems
  • Flash tubes can be switched on or off for creative flash control
  • Wireless Flash Control
  • High Speed Synchro Flash

Pentax K200D Review at Camera Labs

July 24, 2008 By Eric Reagan

Camera Labs has posted a review of the Pentax K200D.

While there are a number of aspects to weigh-up, the choice between the K200D and rival DSLRs really boils down to how much you value build quality and Live View. If you want a tough, weatherproof DSLR at a low price, then buy the K200D. If however you’d prefer a smaller, lighter DSLR with Live View capabilities, then go for one of its rivals.

As an entry level camera, the Pentax M50 puts in a remarkably good performance that matches that of more expensive cameras. In particular the high ISO performance is impressive.

July 5, 2008 By Eric Reagan

Photography Review has posted a review of the Pentax K200D.

The Pentax K200D is a great digital SLR for beginner, amateur or casual photographers. It’s a very well built camera that reaches out to the beginner crowd. But there are also plenty of “pro” level features that a photographer can grow into.

July 5, 2008 By Eric Reagan

PhotographyBLOG has published a review of the entry-level Pentax K200D.

Just like the Pentax K100D Super, the K200D ticks very nearly all of the boxes for those wanting an easy to use DSLR that delivers images you’ll want to keep straight out of the camera, and with the minimum of user input and effort to boot.

It offers a very pleasant, near pro-level, photographic experience at a reasonable cost and in a body that feels solid, well built and as if it was designed by someone who used one themselves.

June 22, 2008 By Eric Reagan

Trusted Reviews has posted a review of the Pentax Optio V20.

The Optio V20 is an attractively designed and well made ultra-compact camera, and the 5x zoom, large wide-view monitor screen and simple control interface make it versatile and pleasant to use, although it lacks a number of useful features, including effective image stabilisation.

Pentax K20D Review at Think Camera

June 17, 2008 By Eric Reagan

Think Camera has posted a review of the Pentax K20D.

All in all, the Pentax K20D is a decent camera with enough features to keep top-end enthusiasts, travel photographers and possibly even some pros happy. It’s not the 14.6megapixel sensor that makes this the camera what it is, that almost doesn’t matter – it’s the combination of intuitive layout, functions and relative ease of use.
