Think Tank Photo Retrospective 30 Review

November 21, 2011 By Eric Reagan

Retrospective 30 (Pinestone)

The Think Tank Photo Retrospective line of camera bags are one of the newest series in their lineup.  It’s also one of the few bags that you can get in something other than black.  While I am certainly partial to black camera bags, I absolutely love the new Pinestone color on these Retrospective bags.

There are several different bags in the Retrospective lineup – from the Retrospective 5 (for compact and mirrorless kits with a couple of lenses and accessories) to the Retrospective 30 (for handling a more pro-level kit up to a DSLR with 70-200 attached plus extra lenses and bodies). [Read more…]

The 10 Best Photography Products of 2011 . . . So Far

June 21, 2011 By Eric Reagan

1. Fuji X100

I don’t think I’ve had more fun with a camera since I first held the 5D Mark II.  Sure, it’s got some quirks, but the excellent image quality and amazing flash sync speed push the Fuji X100 into the front runner position as my personal pick for camera of the year.  We’ll see what the rest of the year holds; however, it will take some serious innovation to unseat the X100.  Find it at B&H Photo (when it’s in stock). Think Tank Photo Speed Demon V2.0, Speed Freak V2.0 and Speed Racer V2.0

May 17, 2011 By Eric Reagan

Next month, Think Tank Photo is releasing new, redesigned versions of its Speed Demon, Speed Freak and Speed Racer camera bags.  The Speed V2.o series of bags are convertible shoulder/belt packs with a flip top lid that folds away for quick access to gear.

“The smallest, Speed Demon V2.0, can carry a standard size DSLR with a standard zoom lens attached (hood reversed) and a wide angle zoom lens beside. The medium size Speed Freak V2.0 also carries a standard size DSLR with a zoom lens attached and is tall enough to accommodate a 70–200 f2.8 lens in the bag. The Speed Racer V2.0, the most spacious of the series, effortlessly fits in the main compartment a pro size DSLR with a standard zoom lens attached and a 70–200 f2.8.” -Think Tank Photo

The new Speed series bags will be available in June; however, Photography Bay readers can use this link to sign up for an email alert direct from Think Tank Photo when the bags are available.

Think Tank Photo Retrospective 5 Camera Bag

April 14, 2011 By Eric Reagan

Think Tank Photo has announced a new bag aimed at Micro Four Thirds and other mirrorless camera users – the Retrospective 5.  Akin to the rangefinder-esque design of many of today’s mirrorless cameras, the Retrospective 5 camera bag mixes old-school look with new-school features.

It is available in black and Pinestone colors and can accommodate a mirrorless camera with 2-3 lenses and several other accessories.  The Retrospective 5 should be available in May for $129 direct from Think Tank Photo’s website.

December 27, 2010 By Eric Reagan

The Think Tank Photo Digital Holster series is designed to handle one DSLR with a lens attached.  This makes for a lightweight setup when heading out for a casual day of activities and photography is not your primary objective.  It’s also ideal for those who are never without their DSLR.  I’ve been using the Digital Holster 10 V2.0 for a couple of months and have been pretty impressed with it so far.
