October 18, 2009 By Eric Reagan

I recently reviewed the remarkable Rotation 360 camera backpack from Think Tank Photo. It’s time to unload Photography Bay’s review sample to one of you guys.

Sure, it’s slightly used with a 9 mile hike under its belt and a few photowalks around town in order to put it through the paces for our review, but I assure you that it’s got plenty more miles left in it.  And, I promise it doesn’t smell bad ;-)

You want it?

Show us your best “hiking” themed images by following the directions below and we’ll cover shipping anywhere in the US. [Read more…]

Think Tank Photo Rotation 360 Camera Backpack Review

October 12, 2009 By Eric Reagan

Think Tank Photo Rotation 360

The Think Tank Rotation 360 camera backpack is a pretty amazing contraption. It’s a new take on the camera backpack concept.  We’ve seen sling bags and other variations on the backpack.  As far as I know though, the Rotation 360 is the only one that lets you keep the backpack completely on your back while retrieving your camera. Think Tank Photo Airport Addicted V 2.0 Review

July 14, 2009 By Eric Reagan

The Think Tank Photo Airport Addicted V 2.0 is a professional quality camera bag that’s designed for serious travelers.  The Airport Addicted V 2.0 is big.  The size is intended to allow you to carry the maximum amount of gear possible on a plane as a legal carry-on.

The Airport Addicted V 2.0 has backpack straps that hide away behind velcro panels when not in use. Additionally, it has handles on the top and side to allow you to tote it with one hand for short distances.  It’s made of tough material that looks nice and professional too.  What I really like about the looks though is that it does not look like a camera bag.  It really looks like a typical black carry-on bag that will blend right in with all the other travelers out there.  Very unassuming. Think Tank Streetwalker HardDrive Winner

April 4, 2009 By Eric Reagan

The winner of the Think Tank Streetwalker HardDrive backpack giveaway was Alan Gornstein.  I asked Alan to share a little bit about himself as a photographer.  His reply follows:

I’m an old Nikon and Kodachrome hand. Love the technical end and used to develope my own slides and make Cibachrome Pro prints. Even mixed my own chemicals. After my kids talked me into a point and shoot, the Nikons were put in the display case, and I never looked back! The timing of this win couldn’t be better-I just got a G1 with the 15-45 and 45-200 lenses, and don’t have anything to put them in.

Thanks to everyone that took time to enter.  Also, a big thanks to Think Tank Photo for sponsoring the contest.

If you read the Streetwalker HardDrive review and are wanting to pick up some gear from Think Tank, remember that you can get extra gear for free if you spend more than $50 and order through this link for Photography Bay readers.

The current freebies include the following choices:

All the Other Stuff ($34.95)

Lens Changer 50 ($27.95)

Lens Drop In ($34.95)

Lightning Fast ($35.00)

Think Tank Photo Pixel Sunscreen 2.0

March 17, 2009 By Eric Reagan

Think Tank Photo has updated its Pixel Sunscreen by redesigning it so that it pops open for easier access.  If you aren’t familiar with the Pixel Sunscreen, it works as a shade for your laptop so that you can see your screen while in the field without all the glare from the sun.

The new Pixel Sunscreen 2.0 is available for $69.00 at Think Tank Photo’s website. Additionally, the Pixel Sunscreen 2.0 is one of the items that Photography Bay readers can purchase and qualify for a free bag from Think Tank Photo.  Essentially, spend $50 or more on gear from Think Tank Photo, and during checkout, their system will automatically let you select a free camera bag (e.g., Lens Changer 50) along with your order.  Go to Think Tank Photo using this link and follow the on-screen instructions to get a free bag.

More details on the Pixel Sunscreen 2.0 in Think Tank Photo’s press release below. [Read more…]

Think Tank Photo Streetwalker HardDrive Review

March 16, 2009 By Eric Reagan

Over the past couple of weeks I have had the pleasure of putting the Think Tank Photo Streetwalker HardDrive camera backpack to use.  It started with a few local outings and then I headed off to PMA 2009 in Las Vegas to give the Streetwalker HardDrive a run through a couple of security checkpoints, storage areas on a few jets and a bit of jostling about the streets of Las Vegas.  Want to know how it held up?  Read on to find out.

The Streetwalker HardDrive is what I would call a normal-sized backpack.  It is about the size on the outside of the LL Bean backpacks that you see college students carrying around (or at least that’s what I saw them wearing 10 or 12 years ago).  It’s probably a little bigger than that, but it doesn’t appear to be when you are looking at it on someone’s back.  I think that’s a good I thing.

I really dislike carrying camera bags around in crowded public areas that look like camera bags.  Call me paranoid, but I would rather not advertise the fact that I’m carrying around expensive camera equipment.  The Streetwalker HardDrive is very unassuming as a camera bag.  It really just looks like another backpack – again, a good thing.
