Digital Camera News, Reviews and Tips
Canon has put up a teaser site for the release of their new model, which is all but certain to be the 5D replacement.
I’ll leave the guesswork up to you. Place your questions, comments and derogatory remarks in the comments below.
Update: Another teaser shot from Canon Japan via Engadget:
Nikon currently operates with two sensor formats in its DSLRs, DX and FX. Practically speaking, the FX format is the same size as the old 35mm film frame. The DX is smaller, which results in a “crop factor” of 1.5x when compared to the 35mm “full frame.” Thus, a 50mm lens appears to have the focal length of a 75mm lens on a DX camera. The Nikon D3 and D700 are FX format cameras. All other Nikon DSLRs use a DX format sensor.
Recent rumblings and some pretty convincing evidence suggests that Nikon may have something bigger in store for us, much bigger. [Read more…]
Cnet Asia is reporting that they’ve all but confirmed Canon’s release of a follow up to the Canon 5D later this month directly from the horse’s mouth.
We have word from Canon that it will be unveiling a new dSLR later this month. While the company didn’t indicate which unit it will be, it did mention to us that it will replace a “long overdue model”.

Think Camera has posted a review of the Samsung GX-20.
Just because Samsung are relatively new to the photographic game is by no means an excuse to ignore what the GX-20 is – a powerful little DSLR that will give other manufacturers a good run for their money.

Image & Nature has a summary of their current issue on this page. The image of the magazine cover, along with the article summary mentions the Canon 7D. Interestingly, it looks like the magazine pits the Canon 7D against the Nikon D90.

There’s a whole list of bloggers posting updates from Photoshop World, providing pretty thorough coverage for those of us who aren’t there. John Paul Caponigro got the idea yesterday and managed to put it together in a hurry. He invited the ‘movers and shakers’ at Photoshop World to post the highlights of their day during each day of the convention, and so far, it’s going well.
So far, the list of participating bloggers includes the following:
They keep trickling in, though, so it’s worth checking back to see who else has added their thoughts about the various talks going on.

UPDATED: The Sony A900 has been officially unveiled. See Photography Bay’s Sony A900 Announcement and Sony A900 Reviews and Resources for more info.
This is the first advertisement that I’ve seen for the Sony A900. It appears to be legit and coming from a Danish photography magazine. [via DPR]
It looks like there are bubbles in the ad featured with the A900, which are reminiscent of the Sony Foam City shoot in Miami earlier this year for images like.no.other. Perhaps Sony is extending the mileage of Foam City to the A900 as well.
[Update: Here’s Ad # 2 leaked:]
The text in the ad reads as follows:

Also, Sony appears to have confirmed with some sources that there will be a new DSLR launched on September 10th. [via PC World] It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that will be the day for the A900.
Expect to see lots more A900 coverage as we approach Photokina 2008.

PhotographyBLOG has posted a review of the Nikon D700.
Is it worth the asking price? Well that depends on your own would-be use and needs. For the amateur there are more affordable alternatives, but for the professional needing full frame capability it can be considered a steal.
