Blackmagic Design has released Blackmagic Camera 1.5 software for the Pocket Cinema Camera, which adds new 12-bit Log CinemaDNG RAW recording to the Pocket Cinema Camera, so users can now capture super wide dynamic range in a single file. This feature was promised when the camera was announced back at NAB 2013. You can find the update here on Blackmagic Design’s website.

Here’s some sample footage.

Canon EOS M2 Coming Early 2014?

November 11, 2013 By Eric Reagan

Canon EOS M-5

Rumors for the Canon EOS M successor continue to build for an early 2014 launch. Previously, the camera(s) was rumored to feature the 70D‘s 20.2MP APS-C sensor and the excellent Dual Pixel AF functionality.

It’s no real surprise to hear more on the EOS M2 since it has already showed up in Canon’s own DPP software. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the EOS M2 in early January at CES 2014.

Canon’s New Teaser is a White KISS

November 11, 2013 By Eric Reagan

Canon White Kiss

That teaser we saw from Canon Korea last week looks to be a white KISS model, which is known to be the Rebel line in the US. In all likelihood, we are going to see a white Canon Rebel SL1 or T5i released instead of an all new DSLR. Additionally, this may be just an Asia thing and the US and rest of the world may not see the new version of the camera at all.

Check out the teaser video below. [Read more…]

November 10, 2013 By Eric Reagan

Nikon D610

Roger Cicala over a Lens Rentals, who initially brought to the D600 sensor-spot problems to the forefront, has evaluated several Nikon D610 bodies using the same testing methods. The initial conclusion is the the new shutter in the D610 has, in fact, solved the problem that plagued the D600.

Of course, Nikon has never acknowledged a problem with the D600. It just introduced the D610 a year later that is virtually the same camera with the new shutter mechanism. You can read Roger Cicala’s full report here at Lens Rentals.
