Nikon Launches New 85mm f/1.8G Lens

Alongside, the new flagship D4, Nikon has announced a new 85mm f/1.8G lens.  The new lens offers FX-format coverage for use on both FX cameras like the Nikon D4 and DX cameras like the Nikon D7000.

Nikon D4 Officially Unveiled

After many leaks and rumors, Nikon has officially unveiled its new flagship DSLR – the Nikon D4.  In several ways, the Nikon D4 exceeds what Canon offers in terms of HDSLR-video features, all the while maintaining a powerfull still-imaging machine as well.

There are plenty of details below; however, expect some up-close action next week at CES 2012.

Nikon D4 Overview

  • 16.1 megapixel FX format CMOS sensor
  • ISO range from 100-12,800, expandable from 50-204,800
  • 10 fps with full AF/ AE or 11 fps with AF locked
  • Magnesium alloy body sealed to resist the elements
  • Accepts CF and new XQD memory card format
  • 91,000 pixel 3D Matrix Metering system
  • 15 cross type points, with nine points that work with lens speeds of f/8 and below
  • Advanced video features
    • Uncompressed HDMI out
    • Mic and audio jacks
    • Full 1080p in FX, DX and 2.7X crop modes
    • Full manual control of Exposure
  • Available February for $5999.95

    Fuji X-Pro1: Official Specs Outed w/ 16MP and 3 Prime Lenses

    Nikon D4 Official Specs Confirmed, $6K Price Point

    Lots of leaking on the Nikon D4 around the web today.  Basically, all the specs that we’ve heard recently turn out to be the real deal.  The price is gonna hurt a bit at $6000.  Hopefully, Nikon will keep the D800 in the sub-$3000 market, eh?

    Regardless, it looks like the Canon 1D X has a real bit of competition from Nikon now – not to mention that the D4 looks to beat the 1D X to market by a month or so.

    Fuji X-S1, New X-Series Superzoom

    The Fuji X-S1 is a new ultrazoom model that takes a place next to the Fuji X10 and Fuji X100 in the premium X-series line.

    The Fuji X-S1 features a 12MP EXR CMOS sensor that is a larger 2/3″ format.  The X-S1 features a manual 26x zoom lens (24-624mm equivalent) at f/2.8-5.6 and 2x enhanced digital zoom, which Fuji claims offers expanded reach with minimal quality loss.

    The Fuji X-S1 captures full resolution images at 7 fps and will record 1080p HD video.

    Fuji FinePix T350 and T400

    The Fuji T350 and T400 are the latest addition to Fujifilm’s T-series Travel compact cameras, announced just prior to CES 2012.

    The T350 and T400 offer 10x zoom lenses (28-280mm equivalent), 720p HD video capture and sensor-shift image stabilization.  The T400 features a 16MP CCD image sensor, while the T350 packs a 14MP CCD image sensor.

    Fuji SL300, S4500 and S4200 Superzooms

    The Fuji SL300, S4500 and S4200 are a trio of new long-zoom cameras announced just prior to CES 2012.

    The SL300 features a rubberized body, 14MP CCD image sensor and 30x zoom lens with a 24-720mm equivalent range.  It offers power zooming with zoom buttons near the shutter release and on the lens barrel.  The SL300 should be available in March for $299.95.  Check availability on Amazon.com.

    The S4500 and S4200 feature 30x and 24x zoom lenses, respectively.  Both models offer a 14MP CCD image sensor, 720p, image stabilization and are powered by AA batteries.

    Just prior to CES 2012, Fuji has announced its Spring 2012 line of EXR-compact cameras – the F770EXR, F750EXR and F660EXR.

    Both the F770EXR and F750EXR feature a 16MP CMOS image sensor and 20x zoom lens (25-500mm equivalent).  Additionally, these models can capture full resolution images at a rate of 8 fps.  The F770EXR offers RAW image capture and GPS functionality, while the F750EXR does not.  The F770EXR and F750EXR should be available in March.

    In addition to the F770EXR and F750EXR, the F660EXR rounds out the EXR-compact line with the same 16MP CMOS image sensor; however, it sports a 15x zoom lens (24-360mm equivalent) and 11 fps image capture at reduced-resolution.     The Fuji JZ250 and JZ100 are among 19 new point and shoot cameras announced by Fujifilm just prior to CES 2012.

    The JZ250 and JZ100 fall under Fuji’s standard compact line and are set for March 2012 availability.  Both cameras sport an 8x zoom lens (25-200mm equivalent), offer 720p HD video capture and are powered by Li-ion rechargeable batteries.  The JZ250 has a 16MP CCD image sensor and the JZ100 offers a 14MP CCD sensor.

    Fuji FinePix XP150, XP100 and XP50

    The Fuji XP150, XP100 and XP50 serve as Fujifilm’s Spring 2012 line-up of tough/lifestyle cameras, which were announced in the lead up to CES 2012.  Fuji says the XP150 and XP100 are designed for the hardcore adventurer, while the XP50 is more of an everyday (but still tough) camera.

    All three models sport a 14MP CMOS image sensor, 5x optical zoom (28-140mm equivalent), and 1080p HD video capture.

    Both the XP150 and XP100 are Waterproof to 33ft (10M), Shockproof to 6.5 ft (2M), Freezeproof to 14°F (-10°C) and Dustproof. Additionally, the XP150 adds built-in GPS functionality.

    The XP50 is Waterproof to 16.5ft (5M), Shockproof to 5 ft (1.5M), Freezeproof to 14°F (-10°C) and Dustproof.
