Sigma DP2x Available for Pre-Order

July 11, 2011 By Eric Reagan

Sigma DP2x

B&H Photo notified me that the DP2x should be in stock shortly and that they are now accepting pre-orders.  The Sigma DP2x, which was announced back in February, is a fixed lens APS-C format camera – not too different from the general design of the Fuji X100.

The DP2x uses Sigma’s FOVEON image sensor and features a fixed 24.2mm f/2.8 lens, which is equivalent to the field of view of a 41mm lens on a full frame camera.

You can pre-order it here at B&H Photo.

One of My Favorite Tools: $30 Off-Camera Flash Cable

July 10, 2011 By Eric Reagan

I’ve been more seriously into off-camera lighting for a couple of years now.  However, it was only a few months ago that I picked up a TTL flash-sync cable for my Canon kit.

Warning: Keep Your DSLR Away from Lasers

July 9, 2011 By Eric Reagan

If you didn’t already know this, let this poor guy’s misfortune serve as a warning.  Never try to capture a laser light show with your Canon 5D Mark II, or any other DSLR for that matter.  A direct hit from a laser will brick your expensive camera by leaving a permanent impression on the sensor.

Have any of you had a personal experience with lasers damaging your camera?

For additional proof, check out the rest of the DSLR-death-by-laser videos below. [Read more…]
