Digital Wedding Photographer’s Planner – Book Review

April 20, 2010 By Eric Reagan

Digital Wedding Photographer's Planner

Digital Wedding Photographer’s Planner is a book by photographer Kenny Kim.  The book has an apt title.  It really is a “planner” for wedding photographers.

What the book doesn’t do is give you a bunch of technical how-to’s for shooting weddings.  Instead, Kenny Kim provides a walk-through of shooting a wedding – from meeting the client, to shooting the engagement session, to all the parts of the wedding itself. [Read more…]

Fuji HS10 Sample Photos

April 17, 2010 By Eric Reagan

Fuji HS10

The Fuji HS10 is the most recent superzoom camera that I’ve had my hands on (after the Nikon P100 and Olympus SP-800UZ).  Since it will be a while before I complete my review of the Fuji HS10, I wanted to pass along some sample images from the HS10 at various settings. [Read more…]

April 16, 2010 By Eric Reagan

Redrockmicro, maker of all sorts of great DSLR video products, is working on a DSLR remote for its follow focus system that can be controlled wirelessly by an iPod Touch or iPhone.  The follow focus remote is pretty cool on its own, but add in the ability to control and program focus from an iPhone and it looks absolutely magical. The Olympus SP-800UZ is a 14-megapixel superzoom camera with a whopping 30x zoom range, which measures to the equivalent of 28-840mm on a 35mm camera.  With a feature set that matches up against the likes of the Nikon P100 and Fuji HS10, the Olympus SP-800UZ has some serious competition in the superzoom department.  To see how it stacks up, read on. Online Photography Courses Roundup

April 15, 2010 By Eric Reagan

Over the past couple of weeks, we’ve seen a variety of online courses start up or add to existing learning resources.  I thought it might be a good idea to provide a quick rundown of the growing list, a lot of which revolves around the release of Adobe Photoshop CS5.  Granted, this won’t be an exhaustive list of online training sites, so you can drop a comment if you think there’s something worthwhile to add. Canon 7D Firmware Version 1.2.1

April 15, 2010 By Eric Reagan

Canon 7D

Canon has released a firmware update for the EOS 7D.  The new firmware version 1.2.1 includes the following updates and fixes:

  1. Extends the timing at which the high temperature warning indicator is displayed and the timing of automatic shut down of the camera due to a rise in internal temperature during Live View or EOS Movie functions.
  2. Optimizes program shift when the ISO setting of the camera is set to AUTO.
  3. Corrects a misspelling in the French-language menu.
  4. Corrects a phenomenon in which vertical magenta-colored banding appears in still images taken in movie-shooting mode.
(This only occurs when in Manual exposure mode and when the ISO speed is set to “H”. Note that this phenomenon only affects units with Firmware Version 1.2.0)

The firmware update can be downloaded from Canon’s website.
