Sony has introduced a third camera in the RX10 lineup and adds an incredible zoom lens for massive telephoto reach. The Sony Cyber RX10 III features the same 1″ format 20MP sensor as found in the RX10 II but uses a new 24-600mm equivalent f/2.4-4 lens for the added reach (as compared to the 24-200mm f/2.8 equivalent lens on the RX10 II). Several companies have released affordable super-telephoto zoom lenses recently (like the Nikon 200-500mm, Sigma 150-600mm & Tamron 150-600mm) and it looks like Canon may be adding to the mix. Canon Rumors reports that it has info from a reliable source of a Canon EF 200-600mm f/4.5-5.6 IS lens in development.
The lens may not be an “L” lens and, thus, wouldn’t necessarily compete with the Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II lens. Accordingly, the lens is also expected to be offered at a lower price point than the 100-400mm.
No additional rumors on pricing or release dates; however, the 200-600mm lens is expected sometime this year.
Nearly a year after the camera was announced, the Blackmagic Micro Cinema Camera is in stock and now shipping. The camera is touted for its compact size and ability to accept radio control commands while mounted on a drone. [Read more…]
