Cnet Asia is reporting that they’ve all but confirmed Canon’s release of a follow up to the Canon 5D later this month directly from the horse’s mouth.
We have word from Canon that it will be unveiling a new dSLR later this month. While the company didn’t indicate which unit it will be, it did mention to us that it will replace a “long overdue model”.

Image & Nature has a summary of their current issue on this page. The image of the magazine cover, along with the article summary mentions the Canon 7D. Interestingly, it looks like the magazine pits the Canon 7D against the Nikon D90.

O’Reilly has just announced the release of their Canon EOS Digital Rebel XSi/450D Companion. It’s $24.99 and, as the title implies, covers the functionality of the Canon Rebel XSi. Canon announced a firmware update for the EOS Rebel XSi / 450 digital SLR camera. Update version 1.0.9 fixes several problems that have been reported to Canon with Auto Exposure Bracketing, Live View and Playback. The exact fixes are:
Fixes a phenomenon in which AEB (Auto Exposure Bracketing) shooting does not operate normally under specific conditions.
Fixes a phenomenon in which the Live View exposure simulation warning indication does not properly display during Live View shooting.
Fixes a phenomenon in which images cannot be played back after continuous shooting when a printer is connected to the camera or a video output terminal is used.
The previous firmware version is 1.0.4 — if your camera uses this version, updating is recommended.
