The Canon EOS C300 Mark II is due out in September. The above short film, Trick Shot, is the first film shot on the new C300 Mark II and it is made available on YouTube in full 4K resolution. You may have to click over to YouTube if you have a 4K display and watch to want it at full resolution.

The short was directed by Evan Kaufmann and shot by cinematographer Gale Tattersall, who you might recall also made headlines after he shot an episode of House M.D. entirely with the Canon 5D Mark II.

Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM Lens Hands-On Review

May 26, 2015 By Eric Reagan

Canon EF 50mm f1.8 STM-2

I received my new Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM lens today and wanted to share my initial impressions.

This lens is situated as the next Nifty Fifty in Canon’s line-up, offering the popular 50mm focal length at an affordable $125 price point. Of course, on APS-C cameras like the Canon EOS Rebel series will provide a field of view equivalent to an 80mm lens on a full frame camera. This makes it a nice option as a beginner’s portrait lens for the Canon Rebel shooter. [Read more…]

How to Shoot Time Lapse Sequences on the Canon EOS 5DS and 5DS R

May 21, 2015 By Eric Reagan

Canon 5Ds

The past two releases of Canon professional DSLRs show that Canon has finally come around to the notion that its customers who pay thousands of dollars for a camera think an intervalometer should be built-in. The Canon 7D Mark II along with the 5DS and 5DS R cameras are the first Canon DSLRs to offer a built-in intervalometer. With these new models, it is now possible to shoot interval images for time lapse sequences without the need for the overpriced Canon TC-80N3.

Note, however, that shooting still images with the built-in intervalometer is different than shooting in Time-lapse movie mode on the 5DS and 5DS R. [Read more…]
