Nikon Rumors picked up word that a new AF-S 800mm f/5.6 VR Lens should arrive in September around the time of Photokina 2012. The longest current lens in Nikon’s line up is the 600mm f/4G ED VR AF lens. Given that this lens is priced at $9800, I would expect to see the 800mm lens in the same $14k ballpark as Canon’s 800mm f/5.6L.

Check out astronaut Don Pettit and his big collection of Nikon DSLRs and lenses. NASA has been big on Nikon for several years, ordering 11 Nikon D3s bodies a couple of years ago and 76 Nikon D2Xs bodies before that.
The cameras are modified to withstand the rigors of photography in space – including capturing extravehicular activities with the Nikon D2Xs based on the last word we had from Nikon.
I wonder when they will get the new D4 or D800 on board the International Space Station?
Some leaked photos of the upcoming Nikon D600 have surfaced online at a Chinese forum. The D600 is rumored to be a 24MP FX-format DSLR that will be situated at a much lower price point than the higher-end D800.

Nikon has just announced the addition of two new lenses to NIKKOR DSLR lens lineup, the AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR and the AF-S NIKKOR 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5G ED VR lenses.
Both lenses should be available later this month. The 18-300mm DX lens retails for $999.95 and the 24-85mm FX lens retails for $599.95.
Also, Nikon announced that total production of NIKKOR lenses for Nikon SLR cameras and Nikon 1 advanced cameras with interchangeable-lens reached seventy million at the end of May 2012.

Amidst a flurry of recent rumors about a Nikon D600 and new lenses, the rumor mill has been relatively quiet about a replacement for the Nikon D300s. However, Mansurovs has posted a detailed spec list attached to a rumored Photokina 2012 announcement for the Nikon D400 – sporting a 24MP APS-C sensor and a $1799 price tag.

Recent leaks and rumors suggest Nikon is planning to launch a pair of new lenses soon – the AF-S 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5G ED VR and the AF-S DX 18-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR.
The 24-85mm lens is rumored to be an affordable full frame lens (possibly a kit lens?) to accompany the rumored Nikon D600. And the 18-300mm is an all-purpose DX lens for cameras like the Nikon D7000.
The lenses are rumored to be available by the end of June, which (if correct) puts an announcement any day now.
