Nikon D3x First Look Review at Amateur Photographer

December 6, 2008 By Eric Reagan

Amateur Photographer has published a first look review of the Nikon D3x.

I have already had the rare opportunity to shoot with a pre-production sample D3x with final firmware, and although the raw files remain inaccessible, low-compression JPEGs taken at ISO 100 at standard settings in a studio environment look stunning.

Nikon D3x Review at ePhotozine

December 4, 2008 By Eric Reagan

ePhotozine has published a review of the Nikon D3x.

From the time I had with the D3x, I was blown away. The image quality is excellent and being able to crop really close in on the rear monitor and still see detail in the eyes and hair of the model was great.

Nikon D3x Preview at Trusted Reviews

December 4, 2008 By Eric Reagan

Trusted Reviews has published a hands-on preview of the Nikon D3x.

The viewfinder is very bright and clear – essential for studio work – and focusing in low-light was quick and accurate, although on occasion it did get a little confused in gloomy, low-contrast scenes – hardly unusual for any DSLR, professional or not. However, overall, it feels superbly solid and totally up to the job.

Just hours after the Nikon D3X was announced a number of online retailers offered buyers the opportunity to pre-order the camera.  Unlike the Canon 5D Mark II, the Nikon D3X will be available shortly after the announcement.  Mid-December is what I’m hearing for shipping dates.  So, it’s possible that you could have your D3X by Christmas.

Here are the pre-order links for the Nikon D3X:

Calumet

Amazon

Studio Impressions Hands-On with the Nikon D3X

December 1, 2008 By Eric Reagan

Studio Impressions Blog has posted a short hands-on account of time spent with a pre-production Nikon D3X along with some JPEG sample images.

Even though the camera was a pre-production model I was extremely impressed with both the camera and lens. As you will see with the images I have posted the clarity, sharpness, dynamic range is exceptional.

Nikon D3X Announced

December 1, 2008 By Eric Reagan

Nikon has officially announced the Nikon D3X, a 24.5 megapixel DSLR.  Nikon is now upped the ante for Canon, which just launched its 21.1 megapixel 5D Mark II.  Canon’s flagship DSLR also sports a “mere” 21.1 megapixels and is now playing third fiddle to the Nikon D3X and the Sony A900.  Oh yeah, the D3X will run you about $8,000.

Full details on the D3X can be found in the press release below. Expect more news, reviews and other info on the Nikon D3X in the coming days.  Stay tuned to Photography Bay’s Nikon D3X Reviews and Resources for the latest. [Read more…]

Nikon D60 Review at Megapixel.net

November 29, 2008 By Eric Reagan

Megapixel.net has posted a review of the Nikon D60.

What’s nice about the D60 is that Nikon didn’t change things about the D40 that worked. The same solid construction is here. The economy of design and outstanding ergonomics are still here, too.
