Samsung NX100 Rumored to Launch in September

July 26, 2010 By Eric Reagan

Recent leaks and rumors suggest that the Samsung NX100 will launch just before Photokina 2010.  Photo Rumors is pegging this camera as a higher end camera to the mainstream Samsung NX10, which was recently reviewed here.

And that makes sense, given that the NX5 (not launched in the US) is a stripped-down version of the NX10.

Samsung NX10 Review

June 21, 2010 By Eric Reagan

The Samsung NX10 is 14.6-megapixel camera offering an interchangeable lens design.  The NX10 follows the Micro Four Thirds system from Olympus and Panasonic as a DSLR-like design without a bulky mirror and optical viewfinder.  The NX10 uses a larger APS-C format sensor (with a 1.6x crop factor) as opposed to the Micro Four Thirds cameras (with smaller, 2x crop factor sensors).

The Samsung NX10 does a lot of things right in both form and function.  To see how it stacks up against the competition, read on. [Read more…]

June 7, 2010 By Eric Reagan

A recent patent application filing from Samsung  (see USPTO Appl. No. 12/621,653) reveals a vertical grip that shuts off when shooting in horizontal orientation to save juice and prevent the photographer from accidentally changing camera settings. [Read more…]

Samsung NX10 vs. Canon Rebel T2i ISO Comparison

June 3, 2010 By Eric Reagan

Samsung NX10

The Samsung NX10 is the one of the new kids on the hybrid camera block.  Like Micro Four Thirds cameras from Panasonic and Olympus, the NX10 features a DSLR-sized sensor, but offers full time live view and no optical viewfinder (but rather an electronic viewfinder).

However, the Samsung NX10 features a larger sensor than the Micro Four Thirds cameras.  In fact, the NX10’s imaging sensor is about the same physical size as the one found in the Canon Rebel T2i.

As part of my upcoming review of the Samsung NX10, I decided to pit the NX10 against the Canon Rebel T2i to see how the noise control holds up.  [Read more…]

Samsung NX5 Announced in Germany, Samsung USA Still Silent

June 2, 2010 By Eric Reagan

Last week, Samsung Germany published a press announcement for the new NX5, which appears to be a lower-end version of the NX10. I inquired with my PR contacts from Samsung USA about the new NX5’s launch in Germany and was told that they have no info with regard to the NX5’s availability in the US market.  So, this may be a Germany- or Europe-only sort of thing.

Unfortunately, the official word from Samsung Germany offers little detail about the new NX5, confirming only that it has a 3″ TFT screen in place of the AMOLED screen on the NX10.  As you can see from the official product images provided by Samsung Germany, the NX5 appears to offer the same 14.6MP APS-C sensor found in the NX10.  Likewise the body and control scheme appears to be identical to the NX10. Samsung TL350 Hands-On

March 12, 2010 By Eric Reagan

Samsung TL350

The Samsung TL350 is a rather compact point and shoot camera that is sort of the little brother to the Samsung TL500.  It features a 10MP CMOS sensor, a 5x optical zoom and a 3-inch VGA AMOLED screen.  In terms of its specifications, the TL350 is packed full of features and killer numbers across the board.
