Adobe Offering 50% Off for Final Cut Pro Switchers

July 2, 2011 By Eric Reagan

Adobe’s marketing machine is taking advantage of the Final Cut Pro X dilemma by enticing Final Cut Pro users with a 50% off discount of competing Adobe products and packages, including Premiere Pro CS5.5 and Production Premium CS5.5.  Adobe’s promo (shown above) takes a dig at Apple’s recent bad press with its switch slogan: “You’re a pro. Ready for HDR Video? It’s Coming in the AMP Camera

June 25, 2011 By Eric Reagan

While HDR photography has its fans and foes, HDR video is likely to fuel the fire even further if the tech in the AMP video camera becomes widespread and affordable.

The AMP camera claims to offer up to 17 stops of dynamic range as the result of capturing simultaneous video on 3 separate senors – with each set to different exposure values.  The Gen II AMP camera stores raw data to SSD hard drives and, based on the company’s FAQ, it looks like they are working on increasing the memory buffer for longer recording times.

Check out the demo video below that shows off some of the footage and explains some of how the camera works. [Read more…]

Vincent Laforet Posts EPIC Footage

June 9, 2011 By Eric Reagan

Vincent Laforet posted a new video, EPIC #308, today (embedded above) – a reference to the serial number of his new camera.  The footage came together as a result of a California road trip with Eric Kessler of Kessler Crane.

Many shots were done with the EPIC’s HDRx capture capabilities, along with some 5D Mark II time lapses thrown in the mix.

Laforet has a pretty big write up about the adventure over on his blog, where he goes into some of the technical details and explains his plan for more behind the scenes material from his EPIC road trip.
