Here’s another great lighting setup and walk-through from Karl Taylor as he shoots a bottle and glass of red wine.
He starts with setting up the scene to create warm tones and textures. Then he walks through the lighting setup from the background and accent lights up to the key light as he builds the scene.
Obviously, he’s using Broncolor strobes in the setup but the principles apply across the board with cheaper speedlights and strobes as well.

Canon recently announced the ME20F-SH, a full frame EF-mount camera with sensitivity up to ISO 4,000,000.

Canon has its next-gen Connect Station on display this week at the Canon Expo 2015 in New York. The upcoming model features built-in wireless and NFC connectivity for automatically importing photos and videos from compatible Canon cameras, which is just like the current Connect Station CS100. The Sony A7S II was announced today and, as expected, brings internal 4K recording to the A7S line. Additionally, the camera gets 5-axis image stabilization on the sensor like its sibling A7R II and A7 II models. The A7S II also gets an improved 0.78x EVF. [Read more…]
Zeiss has announced a collection of 6 lenses in its new Milvus line for Canon (ZE) and Nikon (ZF.2) mount cameras.
The new lenses consist of the following:
The lenses are manual focus only; however, the communicate electronically with the camera body to provide compatibility with program, aperture priority, shutter priority and manual modes. Additionally, they will communicate lens EXIF data to the camera.
The focus ring is a longer throw for precise focusing and enhanced use with video. Zeiss says the lens quality meets the latest standards for 6K video capture. The ZF.2 lenses offer the ability to declick the aperture for video use.
The new Zeiss Milvus lenses range in price from $1177 to $1843 and will be available in October 2015.
