DxO Optics Pro has been updated to version 9.5 with added integration for working with Adobe Lightroom. Additionally, the update adds RAW file support for 4 new cameras: the Canon PowerShot G1 X Mark II, the Nikon 1 V3, the Panasonic Lumix GH-4, and the Sony A6000.

Canon has announced plans to offer the Dual Pixel AF continuous autofocus feature on the EOS C300 cinema camera. As was the case for the EOS C100, the upgrade will require you to take or ship your camera to an accredited Canon service center.
The charge for the upgrade is $500 and is only available for the EF version. More details here from Canon.

Recent rumors and tips suggest that Canon is putting the final touches on the Canon 7D successor with an official announcement planned ahead of Photokina 2014. Preproduction models of the camera are believed to be planned for use during the World Cup in Brazil, which starts on June 12. [Read more…]

Corel AfterShot Pro was hyped as a serious Lightroom competitor when it was announced over two years ago. While the program received a few updates along the way, it was quickly forgotten and written off by most photographers. Adobe’s Lightroom and Apple’s Aperture were just too well oiled to let AfterShot Pro in the door. However, that hasn’t stopped Corel from building a better version of AfterShot Pro. [Read more…]
New rumors on the Nikon front point to a replacement DSLR for the Nikon D800 and D800E next month. To be clear, that’s one DSLR that will serve as the successor to both the D800 and the D800E.
The new D800 model (possibly the D800s) will be closer in succession to the D800E due to the fact that it will not have an AA filter. The update is expected to be the equivalent on the D800 front to what we saw with the D4 to D4s upgrade – that is, improved processor, AF improvements and better low light performance.

The Panasonic GH4 is the first 4K camera I have tested. I have lots of good things to say about it and will have plenty more sample video along the way. For those new to 4K video (including yours truly), I wanted to take a few minutes and break down what I have learned about exporting 4K video using Adobe Premiere Pro CC and share some presets that I created for exporting 4K footage for YouTube 4K delivery. Lighting companies are really starting to do some cool things with LED lights. Several companies are starting to offer LED fresnel lights that run cool and deliver high outputs of light on a minimal power draw. Lumos’ Hawk line was on display at NAB 2014, where it was showing off a 150w and a 50w version of the LED fresnel lights. [Read more…]
Apple has issued an update to Digital Camera RAW to version 5.05, which adds RAW image compatibility for the following cameras to Aperture 3 and iPhoto ’11.
