The world’s smallest digital SLR does not disappoint. The Olympus E-420 packs professional features and performance into a remarkably small, lightweight and comfortable camera body. It’s obvious that Olympus’s designers thought this one through.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX3 Review at Imaging Resource

October 20, 2008 By Eric Reagan

Imaging Resource has published a review fo the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX3.

I’m used to expecting compromises in quality from the smaller sensors on digicams. They’re always good enough for small enlargements. But they fall apart if you zoom in too closely. At a 25 percent screen view, I thought I was seeing everything the camera had captured. Nope. The image held up very nicely as I zoomed in to 100 percent.

Nikon D3x Rumors Continue

October 18, 2008 By Eric Reagan

Yet another forum poster (this time AVForums) has claimed to have to goods on the much rumored Nikon D3x:

Went to dinner with Nikon this week.

The Nikon D3X is due in December 08.

Again, the 24MP number was tossed out there, which shouldn’t come as a surprise given that the D3x is expected to share the Sony A900’s sensor.  Also, this is the second time of late that we’ve seen the December ’08 time frame pop up.

If this is true, Nikon continues its terrible record of keeping product development news a secret . . . or maybe it’s all part of their plan?  The hype surround the past several Nikon DSLRs has been huge – and, generally speaking, Nikon delivered on the hype.

For past and present D3x rumors, keep your eyes on Photography Bay’s Nikon D3x Rumors page.

Panasonic Gets Official With LUMIX DMC-G1 Pricing

October 17, 2008 By Eric Reagan

Even though the cat was already out of the bag, Panasonic decided to drop a press release to tell us that their recently announced (but still unavailable) Micro Four Thirds camera – the Panasonic LUMIX G1 –  will cost $800.  They’re also pricing the 45-200mm lens at $350 (that’s a 90-400mm equivalent for 35mm sensors).

I’m sorry Panasonic, but that kit price still sounds high. Consider what else you can buy for $800 or less. [Read more…]
