Where the E-520 truly shines is in collecting all of the features available on the current entry-level dSLR market in a single device, and in doing many of them better than the competition. Where it stumbles is in the basics: image sharpness, detail, and noise control.

Imaging Resource has published a review of the Olympus SP-570.
The Olympus SP-570 would serve as a great take-anywhere snapshot camera if 8×10-inch prints are all you’re looking for. You might not even notice the pincushion distortion in most pictures.
Luminous Landscape has posted a review of the Nikon D90 – primarily with regard to its video capabilities.
This is clearly a first generation product. Nikon saw an opportunity to add video capability to the DSLR and did so in a simple manner with little intention of creating a new type of hybrid camera. The D90 is a stills camera (and a very good one) at a very reasonable price, that happens to also shoot moderate quality video.

The British Journal of Photography has published a review of the new Sony A900.
Sony’s first full-format camera is designed to meet the needs of ambitious amateurs and semi-professionals. JPEG compression is perfectly balanced, and input dynamic range at high ISO speeds is excellent. Tonal reproduction focuses on instant image appeal (rather than something more neutral, which you see with more pro oriented cameras), and the sharpening is OK.

Imaging Resource has published a hands-on preview of the new Panasonic Lumix DMC-G1.
Even with the rather preliminary firmware that exists at this time, the camera seems to perform quite well, and image quality frankly appears higher than I had anticipated.

Excellent Image Quality. It’s not just high ISO that’s good, the dynamic range is the best of the Nikon DSLRs, the acuity is excellent, white balance is better than ever, and, once mastered, the Picture Controls do give you plenty of control.

Considered on its own terms, the EOS 50D is a more than worthy addition to Canon’s semi-pro DSLR line-up. It boasts a significant number of refinements to a proven design that current EOS users will welcome, whilst adding enough features to catch-up with and in some ways surpass the Nikon D300.

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX3 is an ideal compact for enthusiasts who demand full manual control and specialist features in a small and light package. Crucially, the LX3 also addresses some of the issues concerning image quality which faced its predecessor.
Digital Camera Info has published a first impressions review of the Fujifilm FinePix S2000HD.
At $300, the Fujifilm FinePix S2000HD is essentially a scaled-down version of the Olympus SP-565 UZ. The menu system isn’t as well organized, the zoom isn’t as powerful, the screen is much noisier, and it doesn’t provide nearly the same breadth of features (the Olympus goes so far as to tutor you on how to use it).

Our impression of the P6000 at first blush is that it’s a very capable camera. It handles well and manual features are in easy reach.
