Panasonic Lumix GH2 Announced

The Panasonic GH2 is the follow-up camera to the popular GH1.

The GH2 is built on the same Micro Four Thirds standard as all recent Lumix interchangeable lens cameras.  The GH2 features a 16MP sensor and offers an impressive sensitivity range of ISO 160-12800.

The GH2 will capture 1080p video at 24 fps in AVCHD format and records stereo audio on-camera, along with the ability to plug in an external mic.

The Panasonic GH2 should be available in December 2010 at an initial retail price of $1499.95 with a 14-140mm lens, or $999.95 with a 14-42mm kit lens.  Check availability on Amazon.com.

Sigma SD1 Announced

The Sigma SD1 is a 46MP DSLR that features a 1.5x crop Foveon X3 sensor, along with a 3″ LCD and 11-point AF system.

Pentax K-5 Announced

The Pentax K-5 is a 16.3MP DSLR geared toward the enthusiast photographer and looks to compete directly with the Canon 7D and Nikon D300s.  The K-5 features 7 fps still image frame rate, ISO 80-51200 (w/ expansion) and 1080p HD video capture at 25 fps.

The Pentax K-5 should be available in October 2010 at an initial retail price of $1599.95 for body only and $1749.95 with an 18-55mm kit lens.  Check availability on Amazon.com.

Casio EXILIM EX-H20G Announced

The Casio EX-H20G is a 14.1MP point and shoot camera that offers a hybrid GPS function, enabling users to capture geotagging info while indoors.  To accomplish this task, the H20G stores last known GPS info in the built-in maps within the camera and uses this info to tag images while indoors until the camera can obtain a GPS signal again.

The EX-H20G also features a 10x optical zoom lens and captures 720p HD video.  The EX-H20G should be available in November 2010 at an initial retail price of $349.99. Check availability on Amazon.com.

Casio EXILIM EX-Z16

The Casio EX-Z16 is a 12MP, budget-oriented camera.  The Z16 features a 3x optical zoom, 2.7″ LCD screen and the ability to capture SD video, along with YouTube uploader software.

Fuji FinePix X100 Announced

The Fuji FinePix X100 is a point and shoot camera with a 12MP DSLR-sized sensor.  The Fuji X100 features a 23mm f/2 lens, which is equivalent to a 35mm field of view on a full frame camera.

Additionally, the X100 captures 720p video and includes a hot shoe for external flashes when the built-in flash doesn’t cut it.  A hybrid viewfinder allows you to switch between optical and electronic viewing options.

The new X100 should be available in early 2011.

Nikon D7000 Announced

The Nikon D7000 is the successor to the very popular Nikon D90.

The D7000 features a 16.2MP sensor, a 39-point AF system and a large sensitivity range covering ISO 100-25,600.  Additionally, the D7000 can capture 1080p HD video at 24 fps, or 720p video at either 24 or 30 fps.

The Nikon D7000 should be available in October 2010 at an initial retail price of $1199.95.  A kit version of the D7000 packaged with an 18-105mm kits lens will also be available for $1499.95.

Nikon SB-700 Speedlight

Along with the new D7000, Nikon has announced a new Speedlight, the SB-700.

The Nikon SB-700 Speedlight looks to be sort of an SB-900 Jr., with the ability to use it as a Commander or Speedlight Remote in Nikon’s Creative Lighting System.   The SB-700 offers a number of other improvements over the SB-600, which make it appear to be a reasonable alternative to the Nikon SB-900.

The Nikon SB-700 should be available in November 2010 at an initial retail price of $329.95.  Check availability on Amazon.com.
