Photo Industry to Raise Funding for Japan Relief Effort

PhotoPlus Expo will host a special fundraising event on Friday evening, October 28th to benefit the victims of the Japan earthquake and tsunami.

To help raise funds for the Red Cross, fifty of the world’s most respected photographers will donate an original print as part of a silent auction that will take place throughout the evening. Benefit attendees will have an opportunity to bid on original, signed images from a broad range of world renowned photographers including Harry Benson, Susan Meiselas, Douglas Kirkland, Ryszard Horowitz, Scott Mead and John Isaac, to name a few.

Canon Launching “Legends in Imaging” on October 26

Canon’s recent teaser for an October 26 EOS/PIXMA event will include the launch of something called “Legends in Imaging.”  No specifics are know about this event, except that it will take place on the eve of the PhotoPlus trade show in New York – and that Canon likes the phrase “Exactly as you envisioned.”

PhotoPlus Keynote and Seminar Schedule Announced

PhotoPlus is coming up next month (Oct. 27-29) at the Javits Center in NYC.  If you’re going to be in or around NYC during that time, you’ll be interested to see the line up of keynote and seminar speakers, which reads like a who’s who list of popular photographers and industry pros.

Some of this year’s confirmed presenters include, Julieanne Kost, Colin Finlay, Jasmine Star, Michael Grecco, Lauren Greenfield, Bambi Cantrell, Jay Maisel, Mary Virginia Swanson, Joe McNally, Derrick Story, and Joyce Tenneson, to name only a few.
