B&H has the Mitakon Zhongyi Speedmaster 35mm f/0.95 Mark II lens for $419 (reg. $599) as its Deal Zone deal for today only. Check it out here at B&H Photo.

I tested the first version of this lens a few years ago and loved it. It was a little big and heavy for the Sony A6000 but this is the Mark II version of the lens and it is both smaller and lighter than its predecessor.

Mitakon Speedmaster 35mm f/0.95 Lens Gets the Mark II Treatment

Chinese lens maker Zhongyi Optics has updated its Mitakon Speedmaster 35mm f/0.95 with a new Mark II version. The good news is that it is smaller and lighter but ZY Optics also claims it offers drastic improvement in sharpness and better control of chromatic aberration.

As with its predecessor, this is designed as a lens for mirrorless cameras with APS-C sensors. It is available for Sony E, Fuji X and Canon EOS-M mounts. It looks like ZY Optics swapped the Micro Four Thirds mount on the Mark I for the Canon EOS-M mount on the Mark II model. More good news is that the price remains $599 – like its predecessor. Mitakon Speedmaster 135mm f/1.4 Lens Hands-On

This is probably the only one of these I’ll ever get my hands on since they are only making 100 units of it but it sure is a unique lens. The Mitakon Speedmaster 135mm f/1.4 lens features a clickless aperture and a long-throw focus ring around the massive barrel. It uses 105mm filters. [Read more…]
