Canon Unveils $80k Lens with a Whopping 50-1000mm Zoom Range

Olympus SP-610UZ

The Olympus SP-610UZ is the successor to the SP-600UZ.  The SP-610UZ offers a 22x zoom lens (28-616mm equivalent), which is up from 15x zoom on the SP-600UZ, and image stabilization built-in.  Other upgrades include a 14MP sensor (up from 12MP) and a 3-inch LCD (up from 2.7-inch).

The SP-610UZ captures 720p video and is compatible with SDXC memory cards.  The SP-610UZ should be available in February at an initial retail price of $229.99.  Check availability on Amazon.com.

Nikon P100 Video Sample at 240 fps

The above video was shot with a Nikon P100 at its highest video frame rate of 240 fps, which provides the cool slow motion effect.  The apparent spontaneous exploding orange and water jug were courtesy of the impact from a 55 grain hollow point .223 caliber bullet traveling at approximately 3000 feet per second.  Even the 240 fps frame rate is not fast enough to capture something traveling that fast.
