Fuji SL300, S4500 and S4200 Superzooms

The Fuji SL300, S4500 and S4200 are a trio of new long-zoom cameras announced just prior to CES 2012.

The SL300 features a rubberized body, 14MP CCD image sensor and 30x zoom lens with a 24-720mm equivalent range.  It offers power zooming with zoom buttons near the shutter release and on the lens barrel.  The SL300 should be available in March for $299.95.  Check availability on Amazon.com.

Fuji S4500

Fuji S4500

The S4500 and S4200 feature 30x and 24x zoom lenses, respectively.  Both models offer a 14MP CCD image sensor, 720p, image stabilization and are powered by AA batteries.

The S4500 should be available in March for $259.95. Check availability on Amazon.com.

The S4200 should also be available in March for $229.95.  Check availability on Amazon.com.

Fuji HS30EXR and HS25EXR Superzoom Cameras

Fuji continues the popular HS-line of cameras with the Fuji HS30EXR and HS25EXR prior to CES 2012.

The HS30EXR now serves as the flagship HS camera, replacing the HS20, while the HS25EXR steps in as a secondary model in the HS-line.

The HS30EXR features a 16MP CMOS sensor and 30x optical zoom.  Priced at $499.95, the HS30EXR should be available in March.  Check availability on Amazon.com.

The HS25EXR offers the same 16MP CMOS image sensor and 30x optical zoom.  However, the HS25EXR is powered by AA batteries and does not allow users to capture RAW image files like the HS30EXR.  The HS25EXR retails for $399.95 and should be available in March.  Check availability on Amazon.com.

Tamron 18-200mm Di III VC for Sony NEX Cameras

Tamron Announces 18-200mm Di III for Sony NEX

Tamron has unveiled a new superzoom lens for Sony NEX cameras like the NEX-5N.  The 18-200mm lens is designed for Sony’s E-mount and includes built-in Vibration Compensation.

The new lens features a stepping AF motor that’s specifically designed to accommodate the contrast-based AF in Sony NEX cameras and offers smoother AF during video capture.

It weighs in at 16.2 oz. and uses 62mm filters.  It is available in black or silver to accommodate the most popular design choices for Sony’s NEX models and should be available later this month.

Leica V-Lux 3

The Leica V-Lux 3 is a new point and shoot superzoom camera featuring a 12.1MP CMOS image sensor and a 25-600mm equivalent zoom range.  The V-Lux 3 is capable of RAW image capture and can capture full-res stills at 12 fps or 60 fps at 3.5MP. The V-Lux 3 also captures 1080/60p AVCHD video.

The V-Lux 3 is bundled with Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements licenses.  The V-Lux 3 should be available in January.  Check availability on Amazon.com.

Fuji X-S1 Superzoom Announced

Fuji has unveiled the new X-S1 superzoom camera, which is the latest in the X-Series cameras that also include the popular X100 and the new, trendy X10 point and shoot.  The Fuji X-S1 sports a 26x optical zoom lens (24-624mm equivalent) and a 2/3″ 12MP image sensor with the ability to capture RAW image files.

The X-S1 features Fuji’s signature EXR mode and captures 1080p video with stereo audio.  It includes an articulating LCD and makes serious performance claims of 0.01 second shutter lag and 7fps image capture at full resolution.

The Fuji X-S1 should be available in the UK in February at an initial retail price of £699.  No word yet on official US pricing.  Check availability on Amazon.com.

Sigma 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 II DC OS HSM

Sigma has announced a new superzoom lens for Canon, Nikon, Sigma, Pentax and Sony DSLRs.  The Sigma 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 II DC OS HSM features new FLD low dispersion glass elements and SLD (special low dispersion) glass elements, which should improve the overall image quality, as well as correcting chromatic aberration.

The is the second version of this lens.  As a quick refreshers, the “DC” means that it is made for APS-C (aka “cropped”) sensors and not full frame DSLRs. [Read more…]
