Atomos Releases Affordable CFast Cards for Ninja Star ProRes Recorder

The Atomos Ninja Star was announced at NAB 2014 and touted as a ProRes recorder for the GoPro. The immediate downside that everyone saw was that it only recorded to CFast cards.

CFast cards are great from a speed standpoint; however, a 60GB SanDisk CFast card still costs $650! That’s a tough pill to swallow for a $300 recorder. While some more recently released cards are lower, they are still well above CF card prices. [Read more…]

UPDATE: Canon 7D Mark II Officially Announced!

New rumors suggest that the announcement of a replacement for the Canon 7D may come on Friday, September 5, 2014, which is a week and a half before Photokina 2014 kicks off. We continue to see steep discounts on the original 7D.

There are still several spec rumors floating around for the 7D Mark II (or whatever it will be called) and nothing is really getting trimmed down yet. One solid spec seems to be the EOS 1D X-styled top plate with no Mode dial. Resolution has been rumored between 20-24MP and “advanced” video features have been consistently rumored as well. Karl Taylor Shows Powerful “Before & After” Photoshop and Lighting Demo

Check out this video from Karl Taylor as he shoots photos of a model with window light, studio lighting, then adds makeup and then adds post-production in Photoshop. It provides a pretty powerful demonstration of what not only Photoshop can do, but also what quality studio lighting can do for portraits.
