New Video Teases Lenses for Nikon’s Z6/Z7 Mirrorless Cameras

Nikon has released a new update in its continuing tease of the full frame mirrorless camera coming August 23. The teaser video (above) shows of Nikon’s historic lenses, opening with the legendary Noct-Nikkor 58mm f/1.2 lens. The video closes with a quick tease of the upcoming Nikkor Z lens.

Native lenses are an important part of any mirrorless system. While mount adapters are sure to be a part of Nikon’s new system, having native lenses for the new mirrorless mount are necessary for widespread adoption. Sony has been working overtime to build out its stable of E-mount lenses over the past several years. Let’s see if Nikon can excite its user base with some important and practical lenses out of the gate.

Sony is the Alpha in US Full Frame Camera Market

Sony’s Alpha camera line delivers the moxy that the camera market was lacking. Sony has spent years refining the system and gave us the first taste of what a full frame mirrorless camera could mean for photographers. For their part, photographers have responded with overwhelming support of the Sony A7 product line, along with healthy feedback that Sony actually embraces and integrates into subsequent products.

This cycle of innovation and refinement continues to pay dividends in the shrinking camera market. Through the first half of 2018, Sony has sold more full frame cameras in the US than any other manufacturer of interchangeable lens cameras (this stat includes DSLRs).* In fact, Sony full frame cameras made up 40% of the full frame market sales in the US. Drones vs. Hornets Nests is Apparently a Thing

I stumbled across one video tonight of a drone attacking a hornets nest and then another . . . and then another. If you haven’t seen this side of alternative drone uses, allow me to introduce you to the rabbit hole.

The most effective attack drone of choice appears to be the DJI Mavic Pro, which maintains its position quite well as its blades cut into the nests. As you can see in several of these videos, the hornets attempt a counterattack on the drone to no avail as they simply bounce off the drones’ propellers.
