Back in February, Sugar Factory stole at least one of Ryan Doco Connors’ photos, using it on a t-shirt that it sold in its online store. When Connors called them out on it, he was told that Theft Sugar Factory had a legal right to use it because they changed it by 40%, which is a load of crap (legally speaking).
Instead of launching an expensive legal campaign to exercise his rights, Connors did a photo shoot in honor of Sugar Factory’s theft. Check it out below. [Read more…]

Adobe’s marketing machine is taking advantage of the Final Cut Pro X dilemma by enticing Final Cut Pro users with a 50% off discount of competing Adobe products and packages, including Premiere Pro CS5.5 and Production Premium CS5.5. Adobe’s promo (shown above) takes a dig at Apple’s recent bad press with its switch slogan: “You’re a pro. Make sure your toolset is too.” [Read more…]

Hoya has announced that it will be selling Pentax’s camera business to Ricoh. The deal should take effect on October 1, 2011 and is reported to be a $124 million selling price.
Interestingly, Ricoh has a history with the Pentax K-mount. My first SLR was a Ricoh KR-Super II (shown above), which is a K-mount camera that was basically a Pentax K1000 knockoff. Who knew that a couple of decades later Ricoh would acquire the K-mount system for its own? [Read more…]

The newly announced Olympus E-P3 is available for pre-order at B&H, which usually means (at B&H anyway) that it will be in stock and ready to ship soon.
You can also get in the pre-order line for the E-P3 at Amazon and Adorama.
Sigma’s new 150mm f/2.8 EX DG OS HSM Macro lens is now available. While Sigma’s listed retail price of the lens is $1400, street prices are closer to the $1100 range. You can find it at B&H Photo.

Olympus has opened up its Micro Four Thirds line of cameras to three new cameras. The Olympus E-PM1, E-PL3 and E-P3 (shown above) essentially make up the small, medium and large categories for the series. Of course, “large” is a relative term with respect to the Olympus Micro Four Thirds line as a whole.
