The Sony Cyber-shot WX10 is a 16.2MP point and shoot camera with a 7x optical zoom that debuted at CES 2011. I had the opportunity to go hands-on with a preproduction version of the compact shooter for a few minutes at Sony’s CES booth. Below you will find my initial impressions of the new camera. Massive 750,000 Layer PSD Took 4 Years to Create
Digital photo-realist artist extraordinaire, Bert Monroy, spent the past 4 years cooking up this masterpiece of Times Square that serves as a tribute to the “who’s who” in the world of digital imaging.
The flattened image is 6.52GB and was built with almost 3,000 individual Photoshop and Illustrator files. The image is zoomable on his site if you want to get closer up to personalities like Russel Brown, John Knoll and Scott Kelby (among many others) within the image.
The finished image will be on display at Photoshop World in Orlando, Florida from March 30 to April 1, 2011.

Rode Videomic Pro Compared to Original Videomic
Carl from Digital SLR Shooter put together the above comparison video between the new Rode Videomic Pro and the original Rode Videomic. I’m pretty impressed with the difference the +20db gain setting makes on noise for the new mic. Thanks for sharing your test Carl. Hopefully, I’ll get a chance to try one out for myself soon.

A good quarter of my January was spent in Vegas at CES 2011. I’ve still got tons of stuff to write about – with half a notebook full of notes about new cameras and other gadgetry. In the mean time, I hope the below video helps relate a little bit of what CES was about. [Read more…]
SanDisk Extreme Pro UHS-I SD Card in the Nikon D7000
The Nikon D7000 is the first DSLR to take advantage of the new UHS-I SD card specification. Unfortunately though, it doesn’t appear to take full advantage of that speed potential. The Nikon D7000’s buffer seems to cap at 10 frames during continuous high speed shooting no matter which SD card is inserted.
I got my hands on the latest SanDisk Extreme Pro UHS-I SDHC cards, which are due out in March, to see just how well they worked in this first-generation UHS-I camera.
While the difference between the SanDisk Extreme and Extreme Pro SD cards is marginal in the D7000, there is still an obvious difference. After capturing the full complement of 10 frames at the D7000’s max frame rate of 6fps, the D7000 delivered the following results with each of the cards. [Read more…]
