Panasonic G2 Sample Images

July 26, 2010 By Eric Reagan

As part of my upcoming review of the Panasonic G2, I have managed to capture a few photos that I thought were worth sharing.  It will be a little while still before the review is complete; however, I wanted to pass along these sample images for you to check out.  All were captured using the Panasonic G2’s 14-42mm kit lens.  All images were captured in JPEG format, and I have noted the basic shot info below each image.

Feel free to download any of these sample images for your personal inspection (not for republication).  You can get the original files by right-clicking on any of the images and choosing “Save link as…” [Read more…]

Samsung NX100 Rumored to Launch in September

July 26, 2010 By Eric Reagan

Recent leaks and rumors suggest that the Samsung NX100 will launch just before Photokina 2010.  Photo Rumors is pegging this camera as a higher end camera to the mainstream Samsung NX10, which was recently reviewed here.

And that makes sense, given that the NX5 (not launched in the US) is a stripped-down version of the NX10.

Royal Family Joins Flickr

July 25, 2010 By Eric Reagan

The Queen attends the Royal Windsor Horse Show in 1982

The Royal Family has opened a Flickr account.  It appears that Queen Elizabeth II and Yahoo have been working behind the scenes for some time putting this account together.

They’ve got a number of sets, which, at launch today, include over 600 total photos, ranging from the Victorian era to a couple of days ago.  Prince Harry also has his own collection that you can follow.  William too.

While many of the images are low-resolution and comments have been disabled, the British Monarchy account will allow Flickr users to use the “Share” tab by emailing or embedding photos on other sites (as I’ve done above with an image of the Queen from 1982).

The Queen already has a YouTube channel and Twitter account, so she had to be feeling a bit behind the times without a photo sharing account.

Guy Walks Across America Stop Motion and Time Lapse

July 24, 2010 By Eric Reagan

Check out this awesome stop motion and time lapse video of a guy walking across America.  It’s worth the two minutes.

You can see the route on Google Maps here. It is made up of over 2000 individual stills, and was shot with a 5D Mark II and 24-70mm lens over the course of 14 days.

The behind the scenes video is below (also worth the time). [Read more…]

Canon VIXIA HF S21 Camcorder Review

July 24, 2010 By Eric Reagan

The Canon VIXIA HF-S21 is a compact camcorder that captures Full HD 1920 x 1080 in AVCHD format with a number of frame rate options.   The Canon VIXIA HF-S21 is larger than entry-level camcorders like the Sony HDR-CX350V; however, it’s not so big to prevent you from toting it on family outings or other casual endeavors.

July 24, 2010 By Eric Reagan

I recently took this ARRI Fresnel 3-Light kit for a spin while shooting a couple of interviews.  I was seriously impressed with the ease of use and overall performance while working with these ARRI fresnel lights.

Sony NEX-5 Hands-On Review

July 22, 2010 By Eric Reagan

The Sony NEX-5 is a 14.2MP interchangeable lens camera with a mirrorless design.  What makes the NEX-5 so special is that image sensor is the same physical size of those found in DSLRs like the Nikon D300s or Canon 7D.  This sensor format is often referred to as APS-C format, which results from the sensor being roughly the same size and aspect ratio as the old (as in “1996 old”) Advanced Photo System type-C film.
