Flip Video UltraHD Camcorder Review

February 1, 2010 By Eric Reagan

Flip Video UltraHD Camcorder

A little over a year ago, I reviewed the Flip MinoHD camcorder and gave it a glowing recommendation.  Since then, the MinoHD has been by my side for a ton of daily video clips.  I’ve recorded more video in the past year than I’ve recorded in the previous 5 years.  Why? Because it’s easy and the Flip MinoHD can fit in my pocket and, as a result, it’s always with me.

Now, it’s time to look at the latest and greatest with the Flip Video UltraHD.  The UltraHD is an incremental step up from the MinoHD in my opinion; however, those increments are worthwhile. [Read more…]

Nikon D3s

In the first set of sample images from the Nikon D3s, I gave you a number of JPEG images straight out of the camera, which were no joke to begin with.  Now, I’ve gone back and converted some of those same images from the NEF files to JPEGs and used both Nikon ViewNX and Lightroom 2 in the process. 50 Million Canon Lenses

January 29, 2010 By Eric Reagan

Less than 2 years ago, Canon hit the 40 million mark for EF lenses manufactured.  Already, Canon is celebrating the 50 million mark, which occurred during the production of the EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM lens.

Canon has announced it is celebrating a new milestone in the history of SLR photography, as production of the company’s EF lenses – which began in 1987 with the birth of Canon’s EOS SLR system – has now reached 50 million units.

This lens landmark was achieved during the manufacture of the EF100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM lens and means that Canon has produced over 10 million EF lenses in less than two years since the 40 million EF lens production landmark was reached.

Canon’s EF lens range dates back to 1987 when the first EF lenses rewrote the SLR rulebook with their large-diameter, fully electronic lens mount, and the incorporation of a drive motor within the lens. The 1987 EF lens range coincided with the arrival of the first camera in the EOS system, the EOS 650, and has seen many groundbreaking advances since. – Canon Europe [link]

Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2.6.1

January 28, 2010 By Eric Reagan

Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2.6.1

Adobe has updated Lightroom 2 to version 2.6.1 and is specifically directed to Leica M9 users.

The Adobe® Photoshop® Lightroom® 2.6.1 update includes one important correction that is only relevant for Leica M9 users. This release of Lightroom fixes a bug that caused Lightroom 2.6 to crash when processing certain M9 images. The bug was introduced in the final version of Lightroom 2.6 in the course of making image quality improvements to Leica M9 processing based on customer feedback. There is no need to update to 2.6.1 if you aren’t a Leica M9 user. – Adobe.com

You can download Lightroom 2.6.1 via the following links:
