Fuji has unveiled the new GF 50mm f/3.5 R LM WR lens for its medium format GFX camera line, including the new Fuji GFX 100. The new lens is equivalent to a 40mm focal length in 35mm film format.
At 11.8oz, the GF 50mm is the smallest and lightest in the GF lens line to date. Lens construction consists of 9 elements in 6 groups and includes one aspherical lens element to minimize spherical aberration and barrel distortion. It also features a 62mm filter ring, weather-sealing in 10 places along the lens barrel and operation temperatures down to 14°F.
The Fujifilm GF 50mm f/3.5 R LM WR retails for $999.95 and will be available on September 26, 2019. Check it out here at B&H Photo.
Fuji has announced its new XF 16-80mm f/4 R OIS WR lens for the Fuji X-Series line of mirrorless cameras. The lens offers a 24-120mm-equivalent zoom range on Fuji’s APS-C format cameras in a smaller and lighter package.
The lens consists of 16 elements in 12 groups and weighs just 15.5 oz (440 g) and is only 3.5in (88.9mm) long. This makes it approximately 40% lighter than similar, 35mm system lenses. It has a 72mm filter ring, a minimum focus distance of 14 inches and offers six stops of optical image stabilization for maximum handhold-ability. It also features weather-sealing and operation down to 14°F.

Sony had a special event in NYC this morning to unveil its new 61MP A7R IV full-frame camera. While Canon and Nikon are playing catchup in the mirrorless realm, Sony is showing no signs of slowing down as it continues to push the envelope with higher resolution and more innovation. The A7 product line continues to become more refined and serve as the standard for what enthusiasts and pros expect out of a $2000-$3500 camera. [Read more…]

Apple updated the MacBook Air this week, adding a True Tone display, while the entry-level MacBook Pro gets the Touch Bar, True Tone, and Intel’s 8th-gen quad-core processor.
The base 13.3″ MacBook Air gets a $100 price drop down to $1099 and the base 13″ MacBook Pro, which now rounds out the full MacBook Pro line with Touch Bars, starts at $1299.
